Practicing Farmer’s belief <ul><li>Less labor intensive </li></ul><ul><li>Less seed required </li></ul><ul><li>Less water, but timely supply and drainage required </li></ul><ul><li>Organic gives the better yield </li></ul><ul><li>Weed management is a serious issue, but appropriate weeder can solve the problem </li></ul><ul><li>Yield can be doubled </li></ul>
  9. 9. Some facts <ul><li>Tillers: 35-80 </li></ul><ul><li>Effective tillers: (50-100)% </li></ul><ul><li>Yield: (150-300)% increase over conventional practice </li></ul>

Recommendation <ul><li>Seeing is believing: so exposure intra and inter districts to SRI Plots can clear many doubts </li></ul><ul><li>SRI technical training: for facilitating agency (NGOs, Line department front line staffs and KVK scientists) </li></ul><ul><li>SRI is not like other demonstration, it requires process training, needs to redesign of demonstration package </li></ul><ul><li>Attitude change training: a must for many non- believers </li></ul><ul><li>Research and development on implements, standardization of organic practices </li></ul><ul><li>Organizing a SRI forum at state level with leading practicing farmers, NGOs, Govt. dept. and others </li></ul>
