Ohel Leah Synagogue <ul><li>Built in 1901-2 </li></ul><ul><li>located at 70 Robinson Road, Mid-Levels in Hong Kong </li></ul><ul><li>The name Ohel Leah commemorates Leah Sassoon, the mother of the Sassoon brothers Jacob, Edward, and Meyer who donated the land for building the Synagogue. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Ohel Leah Synagogue <ul><li>The laying of the foundation stone was an event attended by many members of the Hong Kong Jewish community. </li></ul><ul><li>The synagogue remains a hub of Jewish life in Hong Kong even today. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Ohel Leah Synagogue <ul><li>At 1942-5 the synagogue was used as stables during Japanese occupation. </li></ul><ul><li>In 1961 the first official rabbi was appointed. </li></ul><ul><li>In 2001 the synagogue receives U.N award for historic restoration </li></ul>
  8. 8. Golden Temple <ul><li>The temple is in Amritsar, India </li></ul><ul><li>Built in December 1588 AD. It was completed in August 1604 AD </li></ul><ul><li>Queen Elizabeth ll and Prince Philip of the United Kingdom — October 14, 1997 </li></ul>
  9. 9. Golden Temple <ul><li>The Golden temple is considered holy by Sikhs because the 11th Guru of Sikhism, the Sri Guru Granth, is present inside it. The Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the holiest thing in the Sikh religion </li></ul><ul><li>Originally during 1574 AD, the site of the temple was surrounded by a small lake in a thin forest. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Golden Temple <ul><li>The temple is surrounded by a large lake of water, known as the Sarovar which consists of Amrit (Holy Water or Immortal Nectar) . </li></ul><ul><li>The official name of the Temple is Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib. </li></ul>
