  4. 4. Catalog, Journals, Databases Catalog : Use to search for books and e-books, videos, DVDs, capstones or other materials held in the library collection. Journals : Use if you already know a journal title you want to browse or have a citation and want the full text. Databases : Use to search for articles on a particular subject. Many databases contain the full text of the articles. [email_address] : Use to find electronic Capstones, IPPs and select presentations by WL/SIT affiliated students, faculty and staff.

LibGuides is a tool used to deliver targeted information about research areas, services, and other resources to help our patrons find the information they need. <ul><li>Library homepage view: Guides are listed in the center pane. </li></ul><ul><li>Sample Guide: this is the Guide for Remote Users </li></ul>Don’t forget to use the green tabs on each Guide to maximize the benefits of this tool!

RefWorks, Interlibrary Loan Library Navigation Bar, con’t. <ul><li>RefWorks : Use RefWorks to organize your research and create bibliographies. </li></ul><ul><li>Interlibrary Loan : Use Interlibrary Loan to request materials NOT included in our collection. </li></ul><ul><li>Remote users may also use Interlibrary Loan to request that materials included in our own collection be delivered to them. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Search Our Catalog Patrons can search for items in our collection or log in to their personal accounts using their barcode and last name. Once logged in, patrons can renew items they checked out, create and save searches, tag items or leave reviews for materials they have used. For more catalog tips, visit our catalog tutorial .
  8. 8. Your Library Barcode Entering your barcode and last name will give you access from remote locations to our electronic books, journals and databases. All students, staff and faculty are eligible for a library barcode. Contact [email_address] if you are not sure if you have one.
  9. 9. Search For Journals The Search For Journals link on the navigation bar allows you to check availability of a journal title. Enter the journal title in the search box or click the “Title” or “Subject” tabs to browse journals by title or subject area. Use the search type options to search key words when you don’t know a full title.
  10. 10. Search for Journals Results After searching for a journal title, the results will indicate which databases include that title. More than one database may have coverage, and the dates for full-text coverage may vary. Select the database that includes the year you are interested in. Results for journals containing “international education:”

  12. 12. Search our Databases <ul><li>Once in the database search screen, enter your search term in the text box. Clicking “Search” will perform a search across multiple databases. </li></ul><ul><li>To choose one or several databases from the list, click “Choose Databases” and click on the ones you’d like to search. </li></ul>
  13. 13. Refining Search Results This is the result of searching for “sustainable development.” Use the options on the left to filter your results by subject, publication type, publication, etc. Use the options on the right to exclude results from particular databases.
  14. 14. RefWorks RefWorks SIT offers RefWorks citation management software, free to all students, staff and faculty. This tool can help you keep your references organized, assist with in-text citations of references, and help you properly format bibliographies to any style manual regulations (i.e. APA, MLA, etc.).

Interlibrary Loan <ul><li>Use your library barcode and last name to log into ILLiad, the SIT Interlibrary Loan system. </li></ul><ul><li>All patrons may use Interlibrary Loan to request materials NOT included in our collection. </li></ul><ul><li>Remote users may also use Interlibrary Loan to request that materials included in our own collection be delivered to them. </li></ul><ul><li>We do not send Interlibrary Loan books internationally; however, we can scan portions of books and deliver them electronically to your Interlibrary Loan account. </li></ul><ul><li>Articles obtained through Interlibrary Loan will be accessible in pdf format from your ILLiad account.  You will receive an email when the article has been delivered. </li></ul>
