  2. What are “Synergies” • Synergies : Actions towards a common “path” between different projects/organisations/people • Links/Exchange of information • Common activities • Common actions • Common sessions in Conferences • Common papers • Calls-Participating “together” in calls
  3. Links/Exchange of information • Identification: We get to know each other • E-mailing list • Newsletter – Distribution of news through WssTP or through other channel • LinkedIn Group • Twitter Group • Looking out for related projects/groups and making contacts (e.g. SIM4NEXUS-MAGIC-DAPHNE)
  4. Common activities (costly) • Working Group meetings (WssTP) • Organising thematic special sessions at Conferences • Organising thematic workshops Organising common special issues (or sections of special issues) at journals • Common books (contributions by many of us) • Organising common educational activities (e.g. summer school) • PLEASE NOTE: The budget for any of the above needs to come from another source.

For WSSTP and the EC • Method: One person is the “coordinator”/main author/first author • A number of people indicate interest • Outline/Title/Theme produced • Journal/Publisher selected • Co-authors write their parts • First author collects and edits…… • PLEASE NOTE: Harder, cheaper, taking longer, but with more lasting impact
  6. Finding a common theme • Option 1: Select a geospatial location ( the “same” for all the participants/projects) and apply different approaches/methodologies. Compare results in the end. • Option 2: Select a common “driver” and apply/develop it in various locations, using different approaches (with comparable results) • Option 3: Comprehensive state-of-the-art review (with taxonomy/classification). Can be extended to be a book. • Option4: ……… Other?.......
