Content, content, content • Every day, we create 2.5 quintillion bytes of data – so much that 90% of the data in the world today has been created in the last 2 years alone. • IDC predicts data will reach 180 zettabytes by 2025 (1 zettabyte is equal 1 sextillion bytes). • It comes from everywhere: sensors connected to the Internet of Things (IoT), social media posts and reactions, digital images and videos, online and in-store purchases, GPS signals from smart phones and other devices; even your coffee pot may be contributing to the data deluge! © 2017 International Business Machines Corporation 2

What do we mean by “content analytics”? • Content analytics is all about gaining an understanding of the vast stores of data being created by or for an enterprise and then putting that knowledge to work in a way that provides value to the organization. • It also happens to be an IBM software application that is part of the IBM Watson ecosystem. © 2017 International Business Machines Corporation 4
