  2. 2. Introduction <br />Saint Seton’s Orphaned Animals organization<br />Helping the elderly with their hungry pets<br />Picking up dog food and delivering to the elder who cannot get out to the stores themselves to pick up the animal food<br />
  3. 3. About the Organization <br />Saint Seton’s Orphaned Animals is an animal welfare charity established in 2002.<br />Their mission is the prevention of cruelty to animals. They accomplish their mission by providing loving homes for orphaned animals, preventing pet overpopulation through their financial support of spay/neuter surgeries and programs which help people keep their pets. <br />

Organization Mission Statement<br />They provide food and veterinary care to the pets of low income elderly people in economically disadvantage counties in VA.<br />These individuals feed their donated food to their pets.<br />Their program ensures proper nutrition for both the elderly person and their pets. <br />Also rescue homeless animals, educated the public on the importance of spay/neuter & proper care of their animals <br />

What we will be doing?<br />Getting instruction of where to pick up boxes<br />Picking up in South Stafford<br />Then travel to where the bags of animals food needs to go<br />Delivery the bags to the elder<br />Carrying it inside for them or wherever they need us to put it<br />Show them how to proper feed their animals<br />
  6. 6. System Request Summary<br />Elderly people depend on their pets for companionship<br />Due to complications some elderly may not be able to adequately take care of their pets <br />Example<br />Feeding their pets<br />Going out and getting animal food<br />
  7. 7. Preliminary Investigation Findings<br />Everyday pets bring love, laughter, and companionship to the elder<br />Doctors, social workers, home care workers and nursing homes recommend companion animals to help the elderly lead happy and healthy lives.<br />Birds, cats, dogs, and other animals help to keep seniors active and give them a change to nurtures and receive love in return for caring for a pet.<br />
  8. 8. More Investigation Findings<br />Elderly people may not have the ability to take care of the pets easily, therefore their companion may suffer due to this.<br />By helping them take care of their pets, both will stay healthy. <br />
  9. 9. Recommendations<br />Students who are wishing to participate must be at least 21 years of age<br />Able to lift 20-30 pound bags of dog food<br />Like animals<br />Enjoy the elder <br />Internet access<br />Reliable transportation <br />
  10. 10. Times and Cost Estimates<br />Time: <br />4 hours once a month<br />Cost:<br />No real cost other then the price of fuel<br />
  11. 11. Expected Benefits<br />By helping the elderly take care of their pets we are helping to prevent the animals from suffering of hunger.<br />
