1. 1. On this page you'll find expressions of wisdom from some of my favorite Poets, Philosophers, Teachers, Authors, etc.; I will make constant updates to this page so check back often.
Confucius | Philosopher, Teacher
A superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions.
Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.
By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.
Death and life have their determined appointments; riches and honors depend upon heaven.
Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.
Buddha | Philosopher, Teacher
A jug fills drop by drop.
All wrongdoing arises because of mind. If mind is transformed can wrongdoing remain?
Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.
Even death is not to be feared by one who has lived wisely.
Maya Angelou | Poet, Activist, Author, Performer
All great achievements require time.
Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean.
For Africa to me... is more than a glamorous fact. It is a historical truth. No man can know where he is going unless he knows exactly where he has been and exactly how he arrived at his present place.
How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!
I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.
Martin Luther King Jr. | Spiritual Leader, Social Activist
A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.
A man can't ride your back unless it's bent.
A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.
All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.
Almost always, the creative dedicated minority has made the world better.
Dalai Lama | Spiritual & Political Leader
Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.
Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days; an old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend - or a meaningful day.
The ultimate authority must always rest with the individual's own reason and critical analysis.
Sleep is the best meditation.
I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe.
Mother Theresa | Humanitarian, Advocate For The Poor
Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.
I want you to be concerned about your next-door neighbor. Do you know your next-door neighbor?
Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.
Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.
We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.
Mahatma Gandhi | Spiritual & Political Leader
A 'No' uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a 'Yes' merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble.
A religion that takes no account of practical affairs and does not help to solve them is no religion.
Action expresses priorities.
All compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals. Any compromise on mere fundamentals is surrender. For, it is all give and no take.
An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.
James Allen | Author, Philosophical Writer
You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.
To begin to think with purpose is to enter the ranks of those strong ones who only recognize failure as one of the pathways to attainment.
The will to do springs from the knowledge that we can do.
The man who cannot endure to have his errors and shortcomings brought to the surface and made known, but tries to hide them, is unfit to walk the highway of truth.
No temptation can gravitate to a man unless there is that is, which his heart is capable of responding to it.
