In India 
India is a land of colors and diversity and it is famous for its bright & 
colorful flowers. It is the finest gift to the mankind as these are one 
of nature’s most magnificent creation . They look spectacular with 
their pleasing aroma which give much pleasure to our mind they can also 
be used most often for special occasions. Not all flowers are same, 
some bloom very rarely, some have unique patterns and some don’t even 
look like flowers at all. 
As well have seen and we all know a lot of pretty flowers in india like 
roses,lotus etc..But do you know that there are a lot of ​rare flowers in 
the world ​which are totally unique in their appearances ,well some of 
these flowers will totally blow your mind away.  
So,let’s discover some strangest, unusual, prettiest flowers in india. 
1. Magenta Ghost Flower 
Commonly known as by its botanical name ​christisonia tubolsa​.It is a rare endemic 
parasitic plant,which was rediscovered in 2003. It belongs to the same family of 
the ghost flower.It grows at the roots without any leaves and chlorophyll.so it 
solely depends upon other plants for nutrition and steals it from other plants.The 
flowers are attractive and have the magenta color on the outside It can be 
identified by the particularly bright colored flowers emerging from the forest 
floor. 
2.​ Rebe 
 
Rebe is an endangered medicinal plant,which is very rare and was believed to be 
extinct , has been rediscovered after 115 years by team of botanists in arunachal 
pradesh. This plant is used to treat stomach aches and dehydration.It’s a small 
plant measuring about 30cms with two petals with ​two sepals,was also found in 
growing scattered in the eastern changlang district. 
 
 
3​. Mountain Balsam 
It is a beautiful wildflower that is believed to be native of China, Thailand 
and Vietnam. In India flowers are seen in shades of orange-apricot . it is 
found near riversides along canals and other moist places. Mountain 
Balsam is found in forest margins ,and they are grow at alt. 900-1800m. As 
these flowers are bloom between june and october. 
4​.​ ​Leafy coneflower 
It is a rare plant found in NE india, JRI Wood the botanist who is credited 
with describing and naming this species , Leafy coneflower is relatively 
widespread but scattered, being isolated from localities in bhutan. It has 
pale blue flowers like head-form.The Naga Hills of NE India and the chin 
hills of burma. This species strobilanthes frondosa was first named only as 
recently as 1994. These flowers are found blooming in november. 
 
5.​ Woodrow’s Crinum Lily  
It is a ​ largest and rare which is critically endangered bulbous plant, And 
has six stamens with red filaments and yellow anthers ,which was thought 
to be extinct, but was rediscovered in 2004, after a gap of about 100 years! 
G. M. Woodrow first collected this species from Mahabaleshwar. Several 
bulbs of this were sent to Kew (England) supposing them to be ​Crinum 
brachynema​, but when they flowered at Kew the plant proved to be a new 
species. Woodrow's Crinum Lily is endemic to Satara District, 
Mahabaleshwar and Kates Point in Maharashtra. 
6.​ ​Flame Lily  
This one could rightly be called one of nature’s true exquisite beauties. It 
grows as both a climber and a scrambler plant, produces unusual yellow 
or red flowers with wavy edges that depict flames, and thus is called Flame 
Lily . Given to its unusually pretty appearance, this flower is widely 
propagated as a prized ornamental addition to any flower garden. 
However,​ Flame Lily​, like almost all other lilies, is considered poisonous for 
humans and animals alike. Beauty can sometimes be dangerous too!

Magenta Ghost Flower

It belongs to the same family of  the ghost flower.It grows at the roots without any leaves and chlorophyll.so it  solely depends upon other plants for nutrition and steals it from other plants.The  flowers are attractive and have the magenta color on the outside It can be  identified by the particularly bright colored flowers emerging from the forest  floor.  2.​ Rebe    Rebe is an endangered medicinal plant,which is very rare and was believed to be  extinct , has been rediscovered after 115 years by team of botanists in arunachal  pradesh. M. Woodrow first collected this species from Mahabaleshwar. Several  bulbs of this were sent to Kew (England) supposing them to be ​Crinum  brachynema​, but when they flowered at Kew the plant proved to be a new  species. Woodrow's Crinum Lily is endemic to Satara District,  Mahabaleshwar and Kates Point in Maharashtra.  6.​ ​Flame Lily
