First point of contact for </li></ul><ul><li>student laptop issues. </li></ul><ul><li>Teach classes on PC & laptop care and feeding, MS office products, e-mail etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Technology boot camp </li></ul><ul><li>Strategically located in the residence halls. </li></ul>

Telephone Service <ul><ul><li>Longwood owns and maintains the telephone system </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Each student MUST have a phone in his/her room. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Analog Service- allows the use of fax machines, </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>scanners, modems, and TTD (handicap devices </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>including visual aids, bells, lights etc.) capability </li></ul></ul>
  9. 9. Telephone of Choice <ul><li>Students can bring a telephone of choice. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Students should add a telephone to their “what to bring” list. Get with roommate to decide who will bring the telephone. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>FCC #68 compliant. (stamped on bottom of phone) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Cordless phones not recommended b/c of close proximity to others that may be using cordless phones could cause lines to cross and as a result hear others conversations </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>If a student does bring a cordless it must be 900mhz frequency </li></ul></ul>

If you change rooms, your number will change. </li></ul><ul><li>A Technology Handbook/Student Directory is posted on the web. </li></ul>

Telephone Service Repair <ul><li>Connection problems should be reported to the helpdesk by phone at HELP or via e-mail at helpdesk@longwood.edu. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Jack problems (i.e. no dial tone, telephone cuts off and on.) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Students will be responsible for their telephone repair. Longwood will be responsible for repair of connection </li></ul></ul>

Voice Mail <ul><li>Longwood offers voice mail. </li></ul><ul><li>It is recommended that all students utilize this service . </li></ul><ul><li>One mailbox per room. </li></ul><ul><li>Instructions on setting up and using the voice mail will be included in the online technology handbook. </li></ul>

Personal Billing Number (PBN) <ul><li>Each student will receive a personal billing number to use to make long distance calls. </li></ul><ul><li>MUST KEEP UP WITH IT, KNOW IT AND TREAT IT AS A CREDIT CARD #. </li></ul><ul><li>Optional - may use credit card such as MCI, Sprint, AT&T etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Billing cycle - runs from the first day of the month to the last day. They have 30 days to pay. </li></ul><ul><li>All student billing information will be available on the web (to include long distance, printing, etc) </li></ul>
