Body-praying RB72, The Good Zeal of Monks

BMPS is a series of slow meditative movements to go with the prayer words. It is praying in motion for those of us who find it hard to sit still in meditation. BMPS is created by Roy DeLeon, an Oblate of St Benedict at St Placid Priory in Lacey, Washington.

  2. 2. BMPS is Blessed Movements Prayer Session*. It is a sequence of slow meditative movements and gestures thatmore or less relate to the spoken prayer. BMPS enables the pray-er tofeel, to sense, the essence of prayer, which is, union with God. It is a holistic prayer session which involves everything you’ve got: your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual selves.   4. 4. Fighting Pushing fists God/Love away hellJust as there is a wicked zeal of bitterness, which separates us from Thee and leads to hell,
  5. 5. Palms …pushing …pointing Oh Joy!on evil away to Godheart within so there is a good zeal, which separates us from evil and leads to Thee and everlasting life.
  6. 6. Palms on heart Grant us, then, the good zealwhich we must foster with fervent love:
  7. 7. Palms Offering on the heart heart to the other Teach each of us to tryto be the first to show respect to the other (Rom 12:10),
  8. 8. Palms ‘of ‘or Patience ofon body’ behavior’ the sufferingheart Jesus supporting one anothers weaknesses of body or behavior, with the greatest patience
  9. 9. Palms Palms facing on forward ready belly to serve and earnestly competingin obedience to one another.

  11. 11. Palms …offering on goodness heart to the otherbut instead, what we judge better for someone else.
  12. 12. Step to right, …offering palms on pure love heart To our fellow oblates,let us show pure love of brothers and sisters;
  13. 13. Looking up, Bow down in palms on reverence heart To you, O God,loving respect and deep obedience;
  14. 14. Step to left, Offeringpalms on genuine andheart humble love To our abbot/director,genuine and humble love.
  15. 15. Sense Jesus in you and around you Let us prefer nothingwhatever to your Son, Jesus Christ,
