- 22. Let’s take a closer look at Risk #1: Deadlines
- 23. December 1, 2013 Compliance deadlines Train employees on how to use the new label elements and SDS format. This step should already be done!
- 24. December 1, 2013 June 1, 2015 Compliance deadlines For chemical/coating manufacturers: All materials must be classified according to new GHS regulations. MSDSs must be converted to SDSs. All products shipped must be accompanied by an SDS.
- 25. December 1, 2013 June 1, 2015 December 1, 2015 Compliance deadlines All chemical/coating distributors must ship all products with a GHS- compliant container label.
- 26. December 1, 2013 June 1, 2015 December 1, 2015 Compliance deadlines June 1, 2016 Employees must be trained on all new chemical classificaitons in the workplace, and all products on site must have updated GHS labels. You must also update your HAZCOM plans accordingly (per OSHA regulation).

- 28. Those upcoming deadlines are fast approaching. How long it will take you to comply depends entirely on your process for SDS authoring.
- 29. A single simple SDS could take an experienced EH&S professional anywhere from 2 -3 days of work.
- 30. A more complex SDS could take as much as 2 whole weeks of work.
