DE CAIRES, Rosemary's bold exploits and feats of courage continued to reverberate across
the province in the right of Ontario.
The Information & Privacy Commissioner for Ontario's Ombudsman called an inquiry into
Student Safety and a coalition of quasi-government associations prepared to press for more
again against abusive disciplinary measures within academic spheres.
Information & Privacy Commissioner is now considering an independent review specifically
focused on policy and program development issues related to the areas policing and safety
issues in law.
Rosemary DeCaires is known as a tenacious education and youth advocate whose focus is
human rights law. She acts on behalf of victims of violence against the vulnerable and that
includes the elderly, and disabled persons, such as women and their children.
The spring 2009 edition of the TRILLIUM Report will be released by June 10, 2009. Its
recommendations will be applied at all the commission levels, and the former Minister of
Education, the Honourable Gerard Kennedy, now elected MP is supportive.
The outcome of events surrounding spring 2009 judicial review is founder on an ongoing civil
academic appeal matter. What happens next becomes the subject matter of considerable
controversy to date.
The panel for the YORK Respondent says they have reserved comments on the public
announcement for a news conference scheduled on June 10, 2009.
Rosemary DeCaires received support from a lineup of organizations across Ontario such as
the Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Gift of Life Foundation
and several others including the Canadian Civil Liberties Association.
She now approaches the government to guarantee an inquest into the outcome of events
leading to the TRILLIUM and YORK matter. Those commissioned to the task will inquiry into the
status of an opinion on the question of compensation into the TRILLIUM matter.
The panel's role is to review how the school and other authorities handled student safety over
the past few years. She expects that the interview for discoveries into this matter will take
place in late fall 2009.
