Continued from last page

The artists who are in the images for this genre mainly wear casual clothes. The clothes may include grungy T-shirts which are black in colour (if they are in a band). Medium close-ups are used so that the reader can see the clothing that the person is wearing and this adds to the overall mise-en-scene. In the images they have dull expressions and are not particularly smiling at the camera. This could suggest that they take themselves seriously as a band or artist and are trying to relate to the target audience or the fans that like them.

Images used on front covers for this music genre: The images used on the front covers are of artists/bands that relate to the genre of music the magazine is representing. Men and women are used on the magazines to show that the magazine is aimed at both genders. The people in the images are also shown to be quite rebellious or that there is something different about them. This would attract the target audience as they too may be able to relate to this or inspire to be like them.
