  • For reasons of cost and availability, most organizations continue to run their Ethernet traffic over E1 PDH link or multiple E1s to access carrier network. Even in cases where the amount of Ethernet traffic justifies higher data speed for access links, simple protocol conversion is still the most cost effective route for transmitting Ethernet traffic transparently point-to-point over E1/SDH network.   • This is a typical solution for the transmission of 8 services over one fiber pair by utilizing SNMP manageable RC002-16 chassis, Fast/gigabit Ethernet to CWDM specific wavelength converter, optical wavelength converter and CWDM MUX/DE-MUX. It is hub-and-spoke topology which is a chain topology in physical and point-to-multipoint in logical, the central office can communicate with up to 8 dispersed branches through one fiber pair. In central office RC002 16-slot chassis is installed for high-density CWDM wavelength conversion and CWDM MUX/DE-MUX OPCOM200-OMD8 is used for the multiplexing and de-multiplexing. In each branch, a single slot chassis with CWDM wavelength converter is installed for a single CWDM wavelength conversion and Optical Add/Drop module OPCOM200-OAD1D is used for a specific CWDM channel termination.
