France Telecom North America Job Description: Corporate Strategy / Market Intelligence Title: Associate Manager, Business Development, Fixed Internet and Multimedia Services Group Time frame: Position to be filled early 2006 Location: New York, NY, USA Contact: Yolanda Hurtado, recruiter.newyork@ftna.com Presentation of the Department France Telecom North America (FTNA) is the corporate office of France Telecom in the USA. The Business Development department has two general missions: • Provide France Telecom Group entities with relevant market intelligence on the North American environment in order to help them anticipate, accelerate or create new developments in Europe and other regions • Contribute to the strategic development of France Telecom’s presence in North America, including interacting with US companies / organizations, detecting and approaching potential partners, and potentially helping to implement new units or ventures as required FTNA’s Business Development department is composed of four sector-specific teams: 1) Wireless, 2) Network Infrastructure and Services, 3) Enterprise Applications and Services, and 4) Fixed, Internet and Multimedia Services. Each group has developed strong relations with France Telecom business units and subsidiaries related to their field of expertise. The department has a diverse staff of approximately 10-15 multidisciplinary persons, representing various backgrounds (engineers, business schools, MBAs), nationalities (French, American, etc.) and experiences (in and outside of telecommunications industry / France Telecom). The Fixed, Internet and Multimedia Services (FIMS) team works with the various business units within the France Telecom group that offer services to the residential market. The FIMS team’s scope is particularly focused on services that are the new areas of growth for telecommunications companies on the residential segment: VoIP, broadband services, fixed- mobile convergent applications, residential gateways, music and video distribution, etc. FTNA’s value comes from its ability to use many different sources of information and particularly direct dialog with the North American players. Moreover, because it works exclusively for the France Telecom Group, FTNA deeply understands the objectives, culture and organization of the Group, and is thus able to provide analysis closely matching France Telecom’s interests. For this purpose, FTNA strives to maintain a permanent network of contacts among the industry, taking advantage of its New York location. Objectives of the Position General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the Business Development department with the following: • To research and analyze the evolution of the North American residential communications market on specific topics related to new products and services and marketing strategies relevant for the France Telecom Group • To maintain a general overview of the telecommunications market in North America (e.g. regulation, usage, operational and financial characteristics of the main operators, etc.) in order to understand and foresee new trends in the market Job Description-Associate Manager, Business Development December 2005 France Telecom North America -1-

Specific Activities of the FIMS Team Associate Manager Position Activity 1: Business Intelligence (80%) • Manage contracts and relationship with internal FT business units to provide information and support for any activities related to the North American market. • Complete research and write monitoring reports on general or specific issues (e.g.: voice over IP, search engines, IPTV…) regarding the North American market. These reports may be short and synthetic or detailed, and may be presented to a large audience within France Telecom • Interact with external companies (both small and large) and industry groups to gather information as well as participate in industry-related conferences, seminars, etc. • Interact with France Telecom managers to plan and organize the delivery of ad hoc memos or studies • Identify important news and backhaul them to the relevant persons within FT along with a comprehensive analysis Activity 2: Contribute to other FTNA deliverables (20%) • Contribute to FTNA’s periodic newsletters relating news on North American market • Contribute to event-specific publications in the interest of the FTNA’s business development team and the FT Group Personal Qualities Sought • Ability to work equally well in small groups or under own direction and to adapt to different business cultures • Organized and result oriented with good time management, analytical and synthetic skills • Excellent communication capabilities including interpersonal, oral, written, telephone, and presentation skills (including large groups) • Creativity and appeal for marketing and strategic / financial analysis Minimum Job Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Master’s Degree and/or Grandes Ecoles diploma or equivalent appreciated • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in strategy, marketing or product development in the telecom / media industries or consulting experience around technology subjects • Basic understanding of telecom technologies, interest in innovation • Good understanding of business and financial implications of technologies • Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written • Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office literate including experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Internet-based research, etc. Job Description-Associate Manager, Business Development December 2005 France Telecom North America -2-
