WISI at ANGA Cable 2009:
WISI: Next Generation Networks – The new Challenge
Many innovations and optimized modules for the successful WISI systems
Niefern, April 27, 2009 – Focus of the WISI Communications GmbH & Co. KG (WISI)
at the ANGA Cable Show 2009 (May 26. - 28. 2009) in Cologne at stand E9 is this year
on solutions for Next Generation Networks (NGN) and IPTV. The pioneer for
distribution and receiving technologies will present with partners many product
innovations and new modules of its successful systems for the implementation and
extension of high-performance and future-oriented cable networks. WISI will also show
its optimized optical systems, innovative technologies, network components and a
number of amplifier lines.
WISI STREAMLINE extended
WISI has extended its system STREAMLINE. In addition to the Re-Multiplexer OT XX
and the DVB Dual Simulcrypt Scrambler OT 32 this system now also offers the DVB IP
Gateway OS XX, a modular platform for DVB-MPEG video streaming. OS XX is able to
receive up to six transport streams by different sources (DVB-S/S2, DVB-T, DVB–C,
ASI, IP, AV, SDI). The integrated manageable switch aggregates these DVB-IP
transport streams to a GigE output stream, ready for contribution MPTS and
distribution SPTS in carrier or hospitality networks respectively. The new WISI OE
(edge devices) series is another novelty. OE 01 is a cost efficient Edge QAM for the
transfer of Broadcast TV out of an IPTV-network into a HFC network. WISI also intends
to launch Edge PAL and Edge FM devices soon. By this, the system WISI
STREAMLINE is also the core for all devices and future developments in the field of
MPEG Over-IP applications. The STREAMLINE portfolio is complemented by devices
by WISI’s partner rgb networks. rgb‘s BNP (Broadcast Network Processor) is a
remultiplexer/transrater that is able to multiplex up to 768 channels at the same time.

Next Generation and IPTV solution with partners
For the transfer of broadcast, multicast or unicast content WISI will demonstrate with its
partner ADVA Optical Networking a backbone solution, that can transport very easy
and efficient content to video edge devices.
WISI partner DIVITEL shows a complete IPTV solution for alternative carriers and
operators of city and cable networks and a new IP solution for hotels. For the feed into
cable networks, WISI presents a solution related to DIBA (DOCSIS IPTV Bypass
Architecture) and an implementation into a DOCSIS 3.0 architecture with the necessary
QoS parameters the specific characteristics of IPTV.
WISI’s subsidiary bridacom presents a softswitch VoIP solution by Cedarpoint
Communications and for the very first time a NGCP (Next Generation Call Processor)
architecture for small and large sized networks on SIP base. With this system,
bridacom enables its customers to provide NG services for residential and business
clients with the following features: Voice and Video Telephony, Instant Messaging (IM),
Presence and Location Based Services and Voice/IM Conferencing.
WISI also shows CASA Systems CMTS, integrating all demonstrated solutions for
Internet, voice, video and IPTV.
FIBER LINE and FIBER LINE PLUS
WISI has equipped all HFC system components LR 54 S, LR 55 S, LR 43 S and LR 63
with an optical SC/APC connector. The two optical nodes LR 54 S and LR 55 S have
been integrated in the chassis of WISI’s successful COMPACT LINE. They can be
easily adjusted through the handset unit OK 41A or a HMS transponder.
All transmitters of the WISI FIBER LINE PLUS series are now available in a 1 GHz
version. Another ground-breaking innovation is Aurora Networks’ LcWDM transmitters,
operating in the O-band.

WISI also shows a number of innovative FTTH (Fiber-To-The-Home) modules. These
include the new Fiber CP 10, a Triple Play fiber CPE, the optical micro receivers LR 26
and LR 82 and the optical micro node LR 81.
TOPLINE HEADEND with a flexible re-multiplexer
The dual transmodulator OV 75M of the TOPLINE HEADEND family with an integrated
re-multiplexer receives two DVB signals and transforms it into one digital QAM
channel. OV 75M can also operate as a universal dual transmodulator producing two
independent QAM output signals. In addition, WISI has also optimized a number of
modules of this premium headend system.
COMPACT HEADEND: All in Twin
WISI optimized its COMPACT HEADEND for operators of small and medium-sized
cable networks and of distribution systems in buildings. In the sense of “All in Twin“
WISI presents a certain number of twin modules that make the channel processing
even more economical. The twin module OK 75M transmodulates two digital programs
from the digital transport stream of a satellite transponder in DVB-S format into two
QAM signals for the transmission into cable networks. The OK 75 M also has a
Network Information Table (NIT) that could be easily handled with the additional
software CS 76. OK 75H is a twin module for HDTV. The twin module OK 89 can
receive and process two FTA (free to air) terrestrial digital TV signals into PAL. Other
twin modules are OK 86, OK 87 and OK 72. WISI extended all twin modules by the
functions stereo und teletext.
MINI HEADEND: Small solution Premiere
WISI MINI HEADEND is the smallest modular channel processing solution for the
reception in Europe. WISI now provides a wide range of modules for this system. The
OM 75 transmodulates two DVB-S free-to-air programs from the digital transponder
stream of a satellite into two QAM channels for the digital cable. Also all processing
modules of this system were extended by the functions stereo and teletext.
VALUE LINE and COMPACT LINE: Efficient and powerful
WISI at ANGA Cable 2009: Next Generation Networks page 3
WISI has extended its successful Value Line. New are the distribution amplifiers VX 26
3227, VX 26 4032, VX 29 3227 and VX 29 4032. The WISI Q-step technology
implemented in these novelties is a unique feature providing stable and visible
alignment without any further accessories. In addition WISI demonstrates the amplifiers
of its COMPACT LINE.
House connection amplifiers of the MINI LINE and HOME LINE series
WISI MINI LINE is a new generation of small powerful, more efficient and at the same
time more economical house connection amplifiers. Premiere for the house amplifiers
VX 88 and VX 89.
The HOME LINE house connection amplifiers VX 43 B, VX 44 B and VX 45 B have
been equipped also with the new WISI Q-step technology.
