Potentialing for parents is something you can do to ensure that their potential in soccer and in life
your child’s soccer experience is a place for growth—both as a
person and an athlete. It is a balance between a parent’s biggest
role of simply “being there” and the additional role of helping
them, from a parental vantage point, not a coaching one, reach
their potential.
Dr. Lee Hancock is a tenured professor in the Division
of Kinesiology at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Lee
is also a highly sought after consultant who helps
people improve performance through discussions and
workshops. In addition, he consults for organizations
including youth soccer clubs, Major League Soccer
teams and US Soccer. Lee is a USSF “A” licensed youth
soccer coach and has coached for over 20 years. Most importantly Lee is a
father of 3 boys and someone who works at his potentialing skills day in and

Robin Russell, educated as a teacher, joined the English
FA in 1978 eventually becoming Assistant Director of
Coaching in 1989. While at the English FA, Robin created
the FA Coaches Association, and the FA Learning Ltd.
Robin left the FA in 2005 to start his own e-learning
business and to become the UEFA Football Development
Consultant. He has also acted as a consultant on
e- learning, coach education and football development projects for FIFA,
