  3. 3. About Children in Need. <ul><li>The first BBC’s broadcast appeal was a five minute radio broadcast on Christmas day in 1927. It raised £1,143 18s 3d and the proceeds were shared with four prominent children's charities. The first televised appeal was the 1955 'Children's Hour Christmas Appeal', presented by Sooty and Harry Corbett. The Christmas Day Appeals continued on TV and radio right up until 1979, raising a total of £625,836. The presenters included Terry Hall, Eamonn Andrews, Leslie Crowther, Michael Aspel and the rising star of the Radio 2 Breakfast Show - Terry Wogan - who made his debut appearance in 1978 . </li></ul>

More info. <ul><li>The BBC Children in Need Appeal is a registered charity: in England and Wales number 802052, in Scotland number SC039557 and is constituted as a company limited by guarantee, registered number 4723022. BBC Children in Need is a member of the Institute of Fundraising and Fundraising Standards Board. This means they've signed up to the Fundraising Promise committing them to treat the public with respect, fairness, honesty and clarity in all their fundraising activities. </li></ul>
  6. 6. This years Children in Need! <ul><li>This year in Children in Need celebrities will be joining a Hair and Beauty Academy. Which opens it doors from Sunday 26 October to Thursday 13 November on BBC Three. After literally drawing blood last year when he accidentally cut a client's ear Steve is now the academy's image consultant and will be advising this year's recruits, who are all working flat out to raise money for this year's BBC Children in Need Appeal. </li></ul>
