  2. 2. Siebel Tools • Primary analysis and configuration platform for Siebel Enterprise implementations
  3. 3. Recipe • Provide a friendly, rapid way to document Siebel Tools changes in Microsoft Word using an automated script • You will need – Siebel Tools – Microsoft Word – Visual Basic Express Edition or similar
  4. 4. Preparation • Make sure you have a working Siebel Tools and Sample database • Add “ /s spool.sql” to the end of the Siebel Tools command line property in Windows Start Menu • Open Visual Basic and Create a new Project
  5. 5. Part One • Siebel Tools /s command line switch works in the same way as the switch for the Siebel Developer Web Client, outputting all the SQL into the file whose name is provided. • This gives us an understanding of the SQL generated by Siebel Tools when developers look for objects
  6. 6. Part Two • Create a simple DB Rowset in our Visual Basic program to view common data queries – « all Business Components changed since » • Names, Columns, Joins, Comments
  7. 7. Part Three • Create an HTML page and format the output from the SQL queries into easy-to- read tables • Add formatting to make it easier to read
  8. 8. Part Four • Compile your Visual Basic Project and enjoy! • The example code is designed to be improved and completed
