Started over 10 years ago • 90% of customers are educational organizations • Company headquarters near Denver, ColoradoThere are hundreds of districts, colleges and universities using MediaCAST serving over a million students. MediaCAST is scalable and works in a single school and up to the largest enterprise (select from one of the following examples: “…for example in Austin School District in Texas who has 75 schools and 100,000 students”, or for college/university clients: “ ….for example at the University of Southern Nevada who has over 10,000 distance learning students MediaCAST is used to stream video to all their online courses through their Angel LMS”).
-MediaCAST is a digital content management & streaming platform-In the center we have MediaCAST’s core system, it helps you manage, deliver, control and track all your digital learning content.-Around the perimeter you see the suite of add-on modules called SIMs-These can be optionally purchased to enhance the core systemList the modules with a short statement on each.Questions to ask: -Are any of your schools or instructors utilizing iPads? (likely answer is yes to some degree)-Do you have Moodle or Blackboard or another LMS? (key thing to note to come back to later)-One of the great things about the MediaCAST platform is you can start with the core and then expand as your budget and needs grow. All the modules work seamlessly together so it isn’t like buying five or six different products that are not designed to work together.
Unique benefits of MediaCAST allow you to collect, organize and deliver media.Integration – user names, passwords >>> integrating content with url builder, segment maker, palylists and collections
The built-in set of Copyright and Digital Rights Management in MediaCAST are what distinguish it from all the other corporate oriented solutions. This set of tools helps you manage, control, track and report on copyrighted materials and content you are purchasing from 3rd parties. -Since publishers have a wide range of licensing models you need this set of tools to be able to restrict access accordingly. -As an example say you purchase 50 copies of an ebook or a video you want to make that available to the right users and ensure that only 50 copies are used simultaneously.
-MediaCAST is the only system that has built-in support for the full spectrum of leading content libraries. This gives your district the choice of what content you want to use. -You can purchase content from the provider you choose. (Let them read through the list or verbalize a few of them for them)If a K-12 customer add a little more detail -Question: Do you use Discovery, Learn360 or one of the other big content libraries? (likely answer is yes so say)-Great that content can be pre-loaded and show up in MediaCAST. This gives teachers a single federated search across all your content libraries and your own materials. The 3rd party content can be stored and delivered from MediaCAST so your teachers don’t have to schedule or download in off-hours or use the lower-quality versions over the Internet.-This content-neutral design is very important for your organization. It lets you change content out over time and the system doesn’t have to change each time. With most of the subscription-based services you lose all your own content and work if you ever decide not to renew the subscription.
Delivering live television over the IP network-This is one of the hottest trends in schools today. -The reason for this is two-fold first, you are probably installing projectors in every classroom so there is no way to tune traditional TV signals-second, the digital transition for cable requires a change of equipment and dedicated digital set-top boxes. To prevent you having to purchase and install those in every building and every classroom MediaCAST IPTV lets you centralize it and deliver to all your buildings. -There is a huge cost savings because you don’t have to support separate cable systems at every building, maintain the aging coax network, and it gives new capabilities for DVR recording and TV guide integration that you didn’t have previously.
-Kiosk Central provides enterprise-wide digital signage and visual communications. It is different than most other “advertising” type signage products. It can be used for automating morning announcements, emergency broadcasts, and pushing out visual content to entry-way, hall-way and auditorium displays.
-If you have or are looking at doing online courses with one of the leading LMS products MediaCAST can make video and multimedia content accessible in those courses. -It makes it seamless for an instructor to add video without having to login to multiple systems-Most LMSs are not designed for storing large amounts of video or handling video streaming so that is where MediaCAST comes in. -It is more than just pasting a URL link into the course it brings MediaCAST inside of the LMS system.
