CHALLENGES AND CONSTRAINTS
• At the time of farmers’ interview to generate
advice, urea fertilizer was N6,500 =/bag but at
the season for application, urea became N10,000
= and scarce, hence some farmers could not
apply as expected/agreed in the output page.
• Some Tablets did not work well
• Some herdsmen reared cattle into the RiceAdvice
farm and ate up some portion
• Access road to some farm sites not easy
7.

by the Federal Government of Nigeria for

the farmers in Nov/Dec. 2016

WAY FORWARD
• Feedback survey to be conducted in March, 2017
• Final report to be submitted before March ending 2017
• Data on feedback survey will be available by March ending, 2017
Plan for out-scaling based on this project
• On-ground request for the RiceAdvice technology (Ogun/Lagos and
Ebonyi States to be assisted by AfricaRice)
• More farmers in Nasarawa wanted the RiceAdvice technology: They
should be reached in 2017 with AfricaRice support.
• Farmers can be reached and use RiceAdvice using their own android
smartphone, hence literate farmers can be trained
