Using YouTube to Increase Your Local Business Visibility
1. Before Step 1)
Preliminaries—N(ame) A(ddress) P(hone #)
1) Create Google products, such as Panoramio,
Google Maps
2) Create Yahoo and Bing Local Pages
3) Fill out at least 25 Local Directories
Although these steps are not absolutely necessary,
they certainly will help in the process of ranking your
client/business’ videos for relevant Local Organic
search terms.
Conversely, if they’ve been done incorrectly, they can
make the process of ranking those videos for local
search terms more difficult.
2. 8 Steps to Getting YOUR local
Business to the top of Google
local search within DAYS
(sometimes hours) and keep it
there for month after month!
3. 2 Definitions:
1) Google Local Organic Search:
The part of the Google Search
Engine Which is Local and
which is not paid.
4. 2) Keyword: A keyword
is a word, or a string
of words which reflect
how your potential
customer is looking
for YOU, your
products and your
services.
5. A list of what you need to gather:
• 1) Channel art and Google Plus header
• 2) Profile picture
• 3) Channel name
• 4) Cellphone number—make sure someone is
available to receive the text message.
• 5) List of keywords
• 6) Title of your first video
• 7) Channel description
• 8) Video description
• 9) Any urls you want to include
6. How to optimize a business’
Channel:
Step 1) Set up a separate gmail account
for their marketing and YouTube
channel.
7. As part of Step 1, Create Channel Art that
incorporates their logo and contact
information. While you’re at it, create a
matching header for the Google Plus page.
Two examples of Channel Art that I’ve done:

9. Step 2) Research your competition.
Check out their websites. Check out
their blogs and their social media
presence. Figure out what keywords
they’re using.
10. Step 3) Keyword research, using free
tools as well as paid. Check out
whether your competition is ranking
highly for their keywords. If not,
they’ve just given you a competitive
edge.
11. Step 4) Write copy for the channel as a
whole, and for the first video, incorporating
your keywords in an organic way.
12. Step 5) Fill in the information part of your
YouTube Channel.
13. Step 6) Create your first video. This video has
the primary function of establishing the channel
and getting the company to the first page of
Google organic local search.
A new function that YouTube has created is an
intro video that lets people know what to
expect of your channel. A nice way to do this is
to have someone create a punchy 30-second
video . There are some nice Fiverr gigs for that.
Be sure to use ALL of the social media and
keyword real estate available!
14. There are 3 possible goals for video
marketing:
1) Ranking your business on Google search
for important keywords. This goal can be
accomplished with a very simple, easily-
created video.
2) Increasing your reputation as a trusted
expert in your field.
3) Increasing interaction with your business.
This goal requires videos that are
entertaining, engaging and
15. An easy way to create a simple video:
1) find some content on the site.
2) record an audio version of it
3) grab some images from the site, including
the logo.
4) import the audio, the images and create a
short (1-2 minute) video, using Windows
MovieMaker or copy that you’ve already
written and tags based on your keywords
16. Step 7) Upload your video and fill in the information for that
video.
Choose tags. (500-character limit for entire tag area). Tags = Main
keyword FIRST, Then put as many tags in as possible .
Title = Has The Main Keyword in it.
Description = Go After the Main Keyword and another Keyword
Add annotations, creating “calls to action”, utilizing external urls,
url to your Google Plus page, and url to the YouTube Channel.
17. Also, in the description after you have written it,
write *Ignore Tags* and then under that, put in a
load more keywords like this :
*Ignore Tags*
Make money
how to make money
make money easily
make money blogging
etc
etc
18. Step 8) Broadcast it. Post it in your facebook fan page,
on Google +, Linked In, Twitter. Email it to your list to
announce the opening of a Channel. Use a Fiverr gig to
submit it to Traffic Geyser (search on Traffic Geyser) and
also to social bookmarking sites. Embed it in a blog post
on your site, then Ping that page. Find someone who
has an authority blog account (such as Pure Leverage or
ILN or Empower Network) and offer to do a guest blog
post—be sure your video is embedded in the post. Get it
out there.
After a while, check your analytics to find out your
highest traffic sources, and concentrate on those
sources to get more views
Editor's Notes
Golden nugget: always set up a separate account. Reasons: for business—protect marketing from the rest of your business. Also, if having someone do it, it keeps them from your business private emails.
Fiverr gigs Note: the format of the channel art is likely to change again—especially the placement of the links.
