  4. 4. It is so easy to gain access to a wireless network without the owners’ knowing anything has happened.
  5. 5. Here are some general guidelines that will protect your WiFi network.
  6. 6. Tip#1 : Setup the wireless router point via a wired client.
  7. 7. Make sure you disable administration over WiFi.
  8. 8. Tip #2: Always change the default password to login in to the router.
  9. 9. Pick something difficult for someone to guess.
  10. 10. Tip #3: Enable WPA2 Private key with AES encryption.
  11. 11. Be sure to use a long and complex passphrase.
  12. 12. Tip #4: Alter the default SSID on the router.
  13. 13. Tip #5: Setup your access point not to broadcast the SSID if possible.
  14. 14. Tip #6: Block anonymous internet requests and pings.
  15. 15. Tip #7: Disable P2P Connections.

  17. 17. Tip #9: Enable firewall on the network router and disable the demilitarized zone (DMZ) function.
