Orban optimod fm 8600 s

  1. 1. 27.03.2013 ORBAN INTRODUCES OPTIMOD-FM 8600SMarch 21, 2013 Scottsdale, Arizona - Orban, a worldwide leader in audio processing for AM, FM, TV, andInternet broadcasting, introduces the new Orban Optimod-FM 8600S. The Optimod-FM 8600S will be ondisplay at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention in Orban booth #N5006 at the Las VegasConvention Center April 8-11.The 8600S offers OrbanÕs flagship 8600 ÒMXÓ audio processing technology in a compact, 1 rack-unitpackage. The 8600S is available in two models Ð 8600S-FM (processing for analog FM transmitters) and8600S-HD (processing for both analog FM and digital distribution channels). Via an upgrade kit, an 8600S-FM can be upgraded to an 8600S-HD at any time without removing the unit from the rack. The 8600S uses a 2x40-line LCD display for basic setup functions, while serious sound designers willcreate custom presets via the 8600SÕs included PC Remote software and Ethernet connection. Comparedto the Orban Optimod-FM 8500, the 8600SÕs MX processing provides 2-3 dB more high frequency energy, greater transient impact, and lower distortion.Other important features include: - New Òratings-encoder loopthroughÓ allows a ratings encoder to be driven from one of the 8600SÕs AES3 digital outputs, while its Sync Input can be repurposed to receive the ratings encoder output prior to the 8600SÕs built-in stereo encoder. Running the processed signal through the ratings encoder minimizes the number of Òlow audio levelÓ alarms. - 8600S can accept a 10 MHz GPS or rubidium reference input to lock the 19 kHz pilot tone frequency to the reference. This minimizes areas of mutual interference in single-frequency networks. - Cool-running switching power supply saves energy. [--end--]
