  4. 4. • Lydia and her household • Slave girl being silenced – Paul and Silas in prison after being beaten • Jailer and his household • Epaphraditis, Euodia, Syntyche, Luke
  5. 5. “…a Roman colony and the leading city of that district of Macedonia. And we stayed there several days.” (Acts 16:12)
  6. 6. Characteristics of the letter? • Very personal – lots of 1st person pronouns • Nothing mentioned about church problems • Generous – several gifts sent to Paul – partners • Rejoice and joy
  7. 7. • What Circumstances are you facing? Do they stop the gospel going forth?
  8. 8. • Do you have envy/jealousy in your heart?
  9. 9. • How strongly does the world influence you day by day? How are your relationships?
  10. 10. • Do we allow the things we value to influence how we live for Christ? Work status? Family? Finances? Possessions? Comforts?
  11. 11. • Press on towards the goal of knowing Christ
