My social media plan for Special Olympics Pennsylvania is very specific and willkeep
audiences/viewers intrigued and informed. As seen above, there are 3 charts that explain what will
be posted weekly, monthly, etc. on Facebook,Twitter, and Instagram.
Eventhough my organization is focused on the entire state of PA, I plan to have volunteers produce
and maintain individual pages that follow these exact demands for their specific location/event. I
feel that having activesocial media in all locations will attract more volunteers, donors,
organizations and create an overall better understanding of what Special Olympicsdo every day.
I also plan to create a Snapchat forseveral differentlocations in Pennsylvania. Snapchat is a new
application that is free forall mobile users. It is a 10 second video that all friends can see and
replay. Snapchat also offers organizations/events to promote their own specific “story” to show up
on all user timelines. This allows users from all over the world to view and send their ownstory to
be shown across the country/world.For example, this couldbe used while participating in the Polar
Bear Plunge by taking a 10 second video of your friends “taking the plunge”. This promotion would
increase awareness and get all individuals that participate more excited.
Overall, I believe this new social media plan will create more awareness and excitement. Having a
frequent schedule for posting on specific pages will help keep individuals involvedwhile attracting
more. Creating a Snapchat accountwill give a more personal view on the events/fundraisers that
help connectall participating members of Special Olympics.
