This live website was presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology 2017 (AAO 2017) in New Orleans, Louisiana by Randall Wong, M.D. The list of websites to be reviewed were submitted by individual representatives of the respective practices and were not chosen by me. Websites need elements of design, user experience and SEO to be effective marketing tools. There is no perfect recipe for a good website, but rather paying attention to these 3 areas will help serve as a guide to important aspects of a website. Website design involves the visual appeal of your site and allows the user to find the desired information in as few clicks as possible. Website design allows for efficient communication about the goods and services you provide using a combination of design, images and graphics. User experience is part of the search engine algorithms (Google, Bing, Yahoo, others) to rank websites via SEO. Download speed and other elements affect the user experience. SEO allows the better sites to be ranked well. There are required elements a website is expected to have - missing then will negatively impact your SEO. Content is the major factor to good SEO. Relevant and refreshed content is common to all SEO algorithms. A common SEO mistake is combining multiple providers on a single webpage.
