[The Lamb and the 144,000] [14:1] Then I looked, and behold, on MountZion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 whohad his name and his Fathers name written ontheir foreheads. And I heard a voice fromheaven like the roar of many waters and like thesound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was likethe sound of harpists playing on their harps, and they were singing a new song before thethrone and before the four living creatures andbefore the elders. No one could learn that songexcept the 144,000 who had been redeemed fromthe earth.
It is these who have not defiled themselveswith women, for they are virgins. It is thesewho follow the Lamb wherever he goes. Thesehave been redeemed from mankind asfirstfruits for God and the Lamb, and in theirmouth no lie was found, for they are blameless.[The Messages of the Three Angels] Then I saw another angel flying directlyoverhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim tothose who dwell on earth, to every nation andtribe and language and people.
And he said with a loud voice, “Fear Godand give him glory, because the hour of hisjudgment has come, and worship him whomade heaven and earth, the sea and thesprings of water.” Another angel, a second, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who made all nations drink the wine ofthe passion of her sexual immorality.” And another angel, a third, followedthem, saying with a loud voice, “If anyoneworships the beast and its image and receivesa mark on his forehead or on his hand,
he also will drink the wine of Gods wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur inthe presence of the holy angels and in thepresence of the Lamb. And the smoke oftheir torment goes up forever and ever, and theyhave no rest, day or night, these worshipers ofthe beast and its image, and whoever receivesthe mark of its name.” Here is a call for the endurance of thesaints, those who keep the commandments ofGod and their faith in Jesus.
13] And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Writethis: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord fromnow on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “thatthey may rest from their labors, for their deedsfollow them!”[The Harvest of the Earth] Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and seated on the cloud one like a son of man, witha golden crown on his head, and a sharp sickle in hishand. And another angel came out of thetemple, calling with a loud voice to him who sat onthe cloud, “Put in your sickle, and reap, for the hourto reap has come, for the harvest of the earth isfully ripe.”
So he who sat on the cloud swung his sickleacross the earth, and the earth was reaped. Then another angel came out of thetemple in heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, the angel who has authority over the fire, and hecalled with a loud voice to the one who had thesharp sickle, “Put in your sickle and gather theclusters from the vine of the earth, for its grapesare ripe.”
So the angel swung his sickle across theearth and gathered the grape harvest of theearth and threw it into the great winepress ofthe wrath of God. And the winepress wastrodden outside the city, and blood flowed fromthe winepress, as high as a horses bridle, for1,600 stadia.
