  5. 5. The current phase of regeneration of Dublin Docklands (1987 – 2011) has evolved in less time than it took for the inception of the Development of Fitzwilliam Square (1789) to the squares Enclosure (1813)

International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) • A partnership in which Government incentives provided the catalyst to encourage private enterprise. • A revolutionary idea driven internationally by Government appointed task force in conjunction with the IDA. The vision was to develop a global financial hub (IFSC) to increase tax revenue and tackle problems with the national economy.
  9. 9. IFSC • Almost 25,000 employed in 460 IFSC registered companies resulting in payroll & personal receipts approx. €500 million per year in Dublin. • Contributes 7.4% Irish GDP and over €2bn to Irish Exchequer • 36% of corporation tax receipts in Ireland

The continued development in the Docklands of services of, for, and in support of, or ancillary to, the financial sector of the economy. Dublin Docklands Development Authority set up in 1997 with broader role of physical, economic and social regeneration of 1,300 acre area.
