Purpose StatementThe village of Cange, Haiti currently houses around 12,000residents and is expected to grow rapidly in the near futurepartially due to the presence of the Zanmi Lasante hospitalbut also more recently due to internally displaced personsfrom the earthquake disaster near the capital city, Port-au-Prince. Cange needs sustainable building design toaccommodate this growth. The goal of the project is toprovide current and incoming residents with an actualhome design to be constructed using predominantly locallyavailable materials at a low cost to the owners andsurrounding environment.
