As globalisation has removed geographic barriers and opened new economic opportunities, it has also posed a significant emerging challenge for learning and testing professionals: how do we manage the translation, localisation and adaptation (TLA) of test items for multiple languages and cultures efficiently and effectively? What sort of areas does an organisation need to consider in order to ensure acceptance of their assessments, tests and exams in other countries and cultures?

This web seminar is intended to help organisations of all types to understand what needs to be taken into account when considering the possibility of offering their assessments, tests and exams in other languages and in other countries. We’ll look at both strategic and procedural issues that must be considered in undertaking an assessment TLA project, and offer some tips and strategies for anticipating and overcoming common pitfalls.

Finally, the session will provide a brief overview of some of the technologies Questionmark offers to manage the translation of test items and assessments.

  • Questionmark's Translation Management System helps test publishers, businesses and other organizations that need to deliver assessments in multiple languages by streamlining the management and delivery of localized content to multinational workforces.
  • Translations can be conducted “on the fly” within Questionmark. Or, for larger scale projects and working with localisation partners, the system enables the export/import of items and assessments for translations conducted via a third party application or vendor. Once translated, the items, topics and assessments remain connected to their base-language counterparts for efficient management of subsequent edits and reporting.
