2014 Final Ten Year History for Clinic
1. The Kericho, Kenya Foreign Mission Projects
History of Activities and Accomplishments
I. The Kipsitet Baptist Church Medical Clinic, Kipsitet, Kenya (East Africa)
In 2004, Dr. Larry Jordan and Dr. James Thompson visited Kericho, Kenya and established a working relationship
with Reverend Hezron Cheriyout of the Kericho District of East Africa. In 2006, they were joined by mission
partner, Reverend Lynda Brown-Hall who helped to form the Core Mission Team. This missionary team has been
"dedicated to the parable of the 'Good Samaritan' to love and care for our neighbor. Their dedication resulted in
in the founding of the Kipsitet Baptist Church Medical Clinic in Kipsitet, Kenya. The Core Mission Team sought out
partners to invest both financially and spiritually into building a medical clinic for the people of Kericho, Kenya
whose nearest medical facility was over 560 miles away by foot over terrible terrain.
Currently, the Core Mission Team has coordinated the fundraising activities of the volunteers and donors who
support the clinic each year. These include:

Each of the partners have been tasked with assisting with funding the Kericho Kenya Foreign Mission Project
(KKFMP) to purchase medications for the clinic The primary fundraiser has been the Kericho Kenya Annual Fund
Raiser Prayer Breakfast held each year in August. To date, the project has raised more for the clinic.
Today, KKFMP seeks to annually raise $20,000.00 to purchase the various medications needed to sustain the health
and well-being of the nearly 550,000 Kenyans who have visited the clinic since its inception. This amount does not
include the nearly $3000.00 needed for the salaries of the staff consisting of: a Doctor, a Midwife, a Lab Technician,
a Nurse, a Clinic Administrator as well as Building Security or the necessary expenses for improvements and
maintenance of the building and property. Although some of this amount is raised through small donations from the
Kenyans themselves; most people in this area are unable to pay for the services they receive.
I. Sharing of the Gospel
The Kericho Kenya Foreign Missions Project has had a number of Guest Preachers join us on the mission field over
the past ten years. They were: Dr. Deborah Boston, Washington, D.C., Dr. Ernestine Battle, Washington, D.C., Dr.
2. Aurora Delespin-Jones, Washington, D.C., Reverend Dawn Sander, Washington, D.C., Minister Earlene Hooker,
Minister Debbie Davis, Washington, D.C., Reverend Charity Carter, Washington, D.C., Minister Andrea Crews,
Washington, D.C., and Dr. Bernard Taylor, Washington, D.C. Each year, KKFMP holds workshops for the pastors,
women, men, widows, and children with teachings on Faithfulness, Stewardship, Salvation, The Holy Spirit and
Living Holy.
KKFMP has traveled thousands of miles into the region of Kenya sharing the gospel and supporting the people of
God in various ways. Our travels have covered, Kericho, Kipsitet, Kisumu, Sion, Nandi, Ft. Taunet, Lelatich, Solik,
Kunyak, Bomet, Nairbo, Mendera, Burutu, Chepkunyak, and Kejiriet, These regions were often very remote or
extremely difficult to make safe passage. These travels often require KKFMP, upon completion of sharing the
Gospel, to make donations to the local dispensaries to assist with the medical needs. The cost to do this average
$500.00 that is shared with three dispensaries annually.
The Kipsitet Widows Group
The Kipsitet Widows Group was started in 2007 with Patron Florence Cheriyoit, and initially had only 8
widows in the group. Since its inception there are now 9 groups: Sion-36; Chepkunyak-21; FT. Taunet-
16; Nandi-16; Kapkespsio-27; Napomucied-27; Tarakwo-17; Kimavrit-8; Kapkugerned-28, totally 216
women over a vast area in the Kericho-Kipsitet Regions of Kenya, East Africa. Each individual group is
trained in the area of health and Hygiene, Nutrition, Aids Prevention, Harvesting, Education, Safe Sex,
and they are encouraged to seek out as much help as they can from the government and local. The
annual assistance for the widows is donated by Nevertheless Outreach Ministry in the amount of
$2,000.00 and $1,500.00 a year is by Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Widows Training Center
The Widows training Center was built in 2010, as a facility where the women are trained on how to
make clothing, jewelry, and other items that could be sold to generate revenue to care for their needs.
The center received it’s donations of material, beads, and sewing machines from the Kericho, Kenya
Foreign Mission Project as well as Open Door Baptist Church and Mt Pleasant Baptist Church,
Alexandria, VA, who both purchased additional sewing machines to be used by the widows, and other
supporters through the years. This center helps to teach the women entrepreneurial skills and the
importance of sharing its proceeds with the other widows groups. They have held election of officers,
successfully generated revenue, opened up a bank account and managed the training center located in
Kipsitet, Kenya. The officer’s travel all over the region of Kericho-Kipsitet sharing the Word of God,
Praying, training how to harvest food and support in and caring for each other’s children. The annual
cost to supply materials, beads and other items needed to continue this project averages $1000.00-
$2,000.00, which is based on the depletion of all inventory previously purchased.
Food Project
The Food Project initially consisted of purchasing a parcel of land that could be used for planting crops
for sharing amongst the leaders of the pastors and church leaders. Later this project was expanded to
include the widow groups that we serve. Annual we distribute large quantities of seed and fertilizers to
disburse to for harvesting in the planting seasons. The Kericho Kenya Foreign Missions Project requires
those who receive assistance to share the overflow with others near them. This project cost an average
of $2,500.00 per year to operate.
Shoe Drive
We had successfully held three shoe drives in the ten year history of this project. The initial project was in 2006
where 100 pair of shoes were purchased and given to the children who had none. In 2011 New Hope Freewill
Baptist Church donated over 50 pair of shoes to the women, and in 2014 Joe and Gwen Sims have donated over
100 pair of shoes that will be delivered in May 2014. This is a major project in that they walk throughout the land
with nothing on their feet at all, while travelling over rocks of large proportions.
Pencil Drive
3. The Girl Scouts of America, Troop 210, has taken on the project of collecting 500 pencils with erasers for the
children in the Kericho-Kipsitet Region of Kenya, East Africa that will be delivered in May 2014. They have also
expressed an interest in establishing a Pen Pal Communication Agreement so that the children and send letters to
each other for encouragement annually.
I. Over The Counter Medication Drive
Annually Maple Springs Baptist Church Purchase a wide variety of over the counter medications, such as: Tylenol, children
pain medication, allergy medications, sterilizing cleaners/sprays, plastic gloves, tongue depressors, tote bags, t-shirts and an
assortment of candy. This drive has also been supported by Nevertheless Outreach Ministry, Central Baptist Church of Camp
Springs, and New Hope Freewill Baptist Church.

III. Volunteers
The Kericho, Kenya Foreign Missions Project (KKFMP) has had numerous volunteers over the past ten years. The
dedication of the volunteers is to be commended, beucase they work so hard to make sure the needs of the people of Kenya
are met each year, by making momentary donations, purchasing the Fund Raiser Breakfast Tickets, donating items of
necessity for the Kenyans use, and supporting the expenses of the core missions teams international travel.
IV. Operating Budget
The overall operating budget of the Kipsitet Baptist Church Medical Clinic is broken into two parts:
PART ONE: This portion of the budget is 100% controlled by the Kericho, Kenya Foreign Missions Project (KKFMP).
KKFMP is responsible for raising the necessary funds to supply the clinic with the various medication needed to sustain a
constant flow of medication treatment of the Kenyans.
The medication to operate the clinic is purchased on a quarterly basis through the use of a local Chemist in Kenya, Elementaita,
Pharmaceuticals, LTD, Kericho, Kenya. This was arranged in order that the cost would be reduced and we could obtain larger
quantities of medication at a reduced cost in comparison to the cost of medication in the United States. Quarterly we purchase
medication to fight Malaria, eye infections, wing worms, all types of antibiotics as well as: syringes, needles, cotton balls,
alcohol, medical pocks to put medication in, disinfectant sprays and cleaners just to name a few. The list is endless in the types
of medication and supplies that we purchase annually to properly stock the clinic.
