2. Why is article review important?
• To evaluate the accuracy and truthfulness of the text
• To establish whether the text is well-written
• To decide if the text provides relevant information to the topic you are researching

3. Aspects that you have to evaluate in
producing an article review :-
a. the purpose of the text? ( e.g., to inform, to persuade, to
entertain and to express feelings)
b. the intended audience of the text
(is the text advanced or simple? The audience could be
general public, scholars, college-educated students, and etc.)
c. the thesis statement of the text (what is the main purpose
of the whole essay – could be explicit/implicit)
d. the topic sentences (main ideas for each body paragraph)
of the text – could be implicit/explicit as well.

4. e. cohesion of the text (do these topic sentences
relate to the thesis statement of the text?)
f. Evidence used in the text (How does the author
present the arguments to support each topic
sentence? ( e.g.Use of language or strategies such
as reasons/ statistics/ examples, etc.) :- refer to notes
attached
g. Are the arguments convincing? Why or why not?
h. Are there opposing views, and how are these
views counterargued?

5. i. Can you relate the text's main ideas to your
experience? Or relate the situation to the
Malaysian context?
j. How important is the information in the text to
you as a student? (what lessons can you learn
from the text)
