  1. 1. BODY LANGUAGE the conscious and unconsciousmovements and postures by which attitudes and feelings are communicated

Being able to read body languagetherefore helps us greatly: to know how people feel and what they mean, and to understand better how people might be perceiving our own non-verbal signals, and (often overlooked) to understand ourselves better, deeper than the words we hear ourselves saying.
  4. 4. WHY IS BODY LANGUAGEIMPORTANT?Body Language plays a big role in intuition, as 7% it gives us messages about the other person, that we can 55% interpret only on Body Language 38% intuition level.(albert spoken words tone of voice mahrabian theory)

GESTURE :A form of non-verbal communication in which visible body-actions communicate particular messages, either in place of speech or together and in parallel with spoken words.OK sign, greetings, victory sign, thumb’s up, drinking sign,apology, blessings, talking on phone……….are examples of gesture!!
  8. 8. Gestures should be observed in clusters, to provide more accurate picture….
  9. 9. COMMON GESTURE CLUSTERS Openness/sincerity : Open hands Un-buttoned collar Leaning forward on the chair Un-crossed leg/arms Moving closer

  11. 11. Analysis : When people are proud of what they are, they usually show their hand openly When they are not, they put their hand in the pocket or behind their back
  12. 12. Defensiveness : A rigid body Arms /legs tightly crossed Eyes glancing sideways Minimal eye contact Lips pursed, fist clenched Down cast head
  13. 13. CLOSE
  14. 14. Suspicion/secrecy/rejection/doubt : Sideways glance Minimal or no eye contact Shifting the body away from the speaker Touching or rubbing the nose
  15. 15. Readiness/goal oriented/proactive Nodding head but not very fast Leaning forward Legs ready to move Head straight on shoulder
  16. 16. Nervousness : Cleaning one’s throat Covering mouth while speaking Tapping finger Fidgeting Moving position
  17. 17. Boredom/impatience : Drumming of finger Cuping the head on the palm Foot swinging Looking at the watch/exit Not looking at the speaker
  18. 18. Enthusiasm : A small upper or inward smile Hands open and arms extended outwardeyes wide and alert A lively and bouncy walk A lively and well-modulated voice

  23. 23. Eye – the mirror of your soulEye contact is the most important tool in body language To make people feel good and to show your interest you must maintain eye contact The easiest way to maintain eye contact is to look at the person’s whole face above the tip of the nose

  27. 27. SMILE – THE INTL LANGUAGE Its a very strong body language to influence our 1st impression Lip movement shows if you smile, frown, or are confused Pouted lips shows disgust, anger or depression Pursed lips shows your rigidity
  28. 28. HAND MOVEMENT Tightly clenched hands indicate pressure,tension or disagreement BUT its also an indication of energy and excitement Cupping hands on mouth, when talking indicates,the person is secretive,or uncertain Hands on cheek/chin shows he’s pensive
