Lentil overview

  1. 1. Lentil overview
  2. 2. • Daniel Nitsikopoulos • Web developer • Icelab, icelab.com.au Hi 👋
  3. 3. Today • How the Lentil app works • What it’s capable of • Where we can take it in the future
  4. 4. • Tags • Tag Sets • Image harvester • Images 4 key components
  5. 5. Tags • Added manually by library staff • Added automatically by the system • Currently the same as # tags on Instagram
  6. 6. Tag sets • A way to logically group tags to be harvested • Can be for a theme or an event etc.
  7. 7. Image harvester • Looks for images with tags in predefined tag sets • Save links to those images in the system
  8. 8. Image approval process • Images are added to the system by the harvester • A human approves select images • Visitors of the site interact with those images
  9. 9. To recap • Current system: • Gets images from Instagram • Presents that to be approved • Displays approved images on a webpage • Backs up images
  10. 10. Where to from here? • Integrate with other image based resources • Integrate with text based resources • Export data for statistical analysis • Perform statistical analysis on the site • More kinds of tagging • Widgets • [Your idea here!]
  11. 11. Get started! • Code at github.com/slnswgithub/lentil • I encourage anyone with a code club to have a look at the code and try getting things set up.
