Differentsubcultures began to appear in thesecond half of the last century, whenEuropean culture was in the era ofpostmodernism.
  2. 2. More often subculturesare self-contained andaspire to isolation fromthe mainstream culture. Itis caused by the origin ofsubcultures and the desireto show off. Now there areso many subcultures thatit is difficult to talk aboutall of them. We can tellyou only about the mostpopular ones.
  3. 3. It is a subculture that arose in the late 70s of the XXcentury, the UK-based punk movement. Gothicsubculture is varied and all its members arecharacterized by the specific image and interest toGothic music. Now the world subculture is representedby people aged 14 to 45 and older. The development ofthe Gothic subculture was closely linked to theevolution of the musical genre of gothic rock. In the XXcentury, the Gothic subculture was divided intoseveral independent streams. Despite the fact thatthe Goths have negative attitude to modern society, they are able to integrate into it successfully.Different social researchers and scientists haveconcluded that this subculture should be taken onlyas a community of people who share certain interests.
  4. 4. Goths wear extraordinary clothes, usually black incolor. Their articles of clothes are full of details:grid and metal jewelry (rings, earrings, pendants,etc.). More over, both men and women use cosmetics. Itallows to create a grim image. Because of this, themass media often discuss the distorted and negativeimage of the Gothic subculture. They are often takenfor Satanists but Goths have nothing to do with them.
