Product Design<br />Defined:<br />Taking a concept from initial idea to actualization<br />Techniques and Tools that help paint the picture <br />Mockups, Prototypes, Storyboards<br />Making the idea tangible<br />Iterative Process<br />Tools:<br />Wireframe of a new web application<br />Cardboard in the shape of an Ipad<br />3D Rendering of a engine part<br />Plastic model of a new vacuum<br />Use Cases<br />
  5. 5. Design and Modelling<br />Use the tools that works for you and the idea<br />Storyboard vs. Mockup vs. Physical Model<br />Stay Focused, Solve the original challenge<br /> Who? What is their Goal? What is stopping them?<br />No construction signs! No fillers! No Weather!<br />Don’t recreate the wheel on the basics.<br />Usability is paramount. Don’t over-engineer.<br />Google Search, Iphone, Craigslist, Salesforce, Xbox<br />

Get Feedback<br />Be able to talk every element of your design. <br />Show everyoneUse multiple techniques to validate the design<br />Surveys (pictures/demos)<br />Beta groups<br />Customer Focus Groups, 1:1 Sessions (Clients, Experts) <br />Run Scenarios at it. Carry it around with you <br />Capture the new ideas the design generates.<br />Be willing to throw it all away and start again<br />
