The program opens with an overview of the critical role played by performance review discussions in the performance management system of most organisations. Participants analyse the best practices of planning for a performance review. They practice effective techniques for facilitating participative performance review discussions with members of their staff. Participants analyse organisation’s performance appraisal models and examine the benefits of following up a performance review by monitoring the progress of the agreed plan of action. Participants analyse the best practices for giving feedback and apply techniques for giving effective feedback. Finally, the critical roles of coaching, counselling, and mentoring in managing performance is analysed by participants. Skill-building role plays and activities, allow participants the opportunity to demonstrate the learning derived from the various sessions of the program. Identify own approach to performance reviews D. Formulate questions to stimulate self-appraisal E. Formulate action plans to manage performance F. Identify the Dos and Don’ts of preparing for a performance review J. Classify performance problems on the basis of data and interviews K. Formulate appropriate questions to facilitate discussions on performance L. Build commitment towards the organization’s performance management system M. Apply the four-step process for leading an effective performance review discussion N.
