improvement Methodology to Motorola. It’s a Trademark of
Motorola.

A six sigma process is one in which 99.9999966%
of the products manufactured are statistically
expected to be free of defects (3.4 defects per
million).
It improves the process performance, decreases

7. Organisation of six sigma
• Leadership council - sets goals and objectives
(define the purpose, explain the benefits,
prepare a schedule, review the system)
• Sponsor – high level positions (Vice President),
problem-solvers.
• Implementation leader – supervise the six
sigma effort by supporting the leadership
council
8. • Coach - expert (schedule preparation,
defining the outcome of the project and
mediating conflict)
• Team Leader – oversees team activities and
bridge between sponsor and team members
• Team member – individual performing specific
duties assigned to them
• Process owner – person who look after the
process.
9. Types of Six Sigma Belts
oMaster Black Belts, identified by Leaders, act as in-house
coaches on Six Sigma. They devote 100% of their time to
Six Sigma. They assist leaders and guide Black Belts and
Green Belts.
oBlack Belts, operate under Master Black Belts to apply Six
Sigma methodology to specific projects.
oGreen Belts, are the employees who take up Six Sigma
implementation along with their other job responsibilities,
operating under the guidance of Black Belts.
