  2. 2. MEDL Mobile was formed in 2008 to fill a void in the development spectrum - high end, custom mobile apps driven by strategic insights and fueled by creativity. Our team has grown to include more than fifty digital architects, strategists, interface designers, copy writers, programmers, marketers, game developers and mobile producers. THE MEDL STORY MEDL apps have been downloaded millions of times and consistently topped the charts on the App Store around the globe. We’ve developed nearly one hundred apps, with several dozen in various stages of development. Several MEDL apps have reached #1 on the App Store. MEDL recently completed steps to go public and is now traded under the symbol “MEDL”. We love what we do.Thursday, July 21, 2011

  5. 5. MEDL and the work we do for our partners has been featured on a wide array of general market and hi-tech networks and publications. Of course, it’s fun to see our work in the press. But what’s really important is watching how that publicity helps our clients drive their business forward.MARKET EXPOSUREThursday, July 21, 2011

Mass Appeal with a Broad Audience Highly Targeted to a Defined Audience Games, Functional Tools, Utilities Innovation/Simplification of a Business Function/Service Branded, but Not Always a Brand Extension Sales Tools, Operations, New Products We work with our clients to find their mobile sweet spot. To find yours, ask yourself: Who do I want a stronger relationship with? What can I give them in exchange for their time and effort? Entertainment? Information? Deals? What do I want them to do once they’ve started our mobile relationship? Buy something? Sell something? Or just have a good time?Thursday, July 21, 2011

  9. 9. We speak the language of storyboards. When building something as complex as an app, it’s important to have a common language. When we work with client partners and stakeholders, everyone can see how the user will experience the app. Storyboards literally keep us all on the same page.Thursday, July 21, 2011
  10. 10. How long does it take to build an app? On average it takes us between 30 and 120 days to complete an app. If the functionality is well-defined going in, we can move quickly to execute seamlessly. If youʼre looking to create something thatʼs never been done, or youʼre open to brainstorming, or the parameters of your project are still somewhat untested, we tend to take our time and think everything through carefully at the beginning. Measure twice, cut once. Or in our case, storyboard twice. Program once. How much does it cost to build an app? Our projects tend to range from low five into the six figures, depending upon the complexity. We price our apps in a way that makes it transparent and clear to our customers. If the project is well-defined, we will provide an estimate that is accurate +/- 10%, which is finalized at the conclusion of Phase 1, the Pre-Development phase. If the project deliverables are open, we prefer to charge a flat rate for Pre-Development and then provide an accurate estimate once a functional scope has been determined. What is the difference between platforms? The largest two mobile app platforms by far are iOS and Android. The most basic difference between them comes down to philosophy. Steve Jobs believes in controlling the user experience in order to make it sublime and exceptional. As such, when one is building apps for the iPhone or iPad (iOS), one must play by Steveʼs rules. Which means you must meet certain graphic standards. You may not interfere with the hardware, and your code must be as clean as your interface design. Google believes in an open marketplace. And as such, Android is wide open. This means developers are free and unrestricted to create - which is both liberating and a hindrance for the marketplace. Android is also available on multiple devices supported by many different carriers, while iOS is only AT&T and Verizon.Thursday, July 21, 2011
  11. 11. What platform makes the most sense for my needs? Not to answer a question with a question, but what are your needs? If you need mass adoption or youʼre looking to charge for your app, iPhone is still the clear leader. If youʼre looking to push the technology limits of the device, or you want to attract a large audience through a free download - Android may make more sense. Weʼd be happy to help you explore this topic further. Is there a difference between iPhone and iPad development? Yes and no. The language is the same. Most of the coding is the same. However, if you are looking to make a “Universal Build” which is optimized for both platforms or an iPad only version, then graphic design and related programming needs to shift in order to work with the different screen dimensions and size of the real estate. How do I make money from my app? There are several ways to generate revenue in mobile. • Paid download: You charge between $.99 - $19.99 (or more) per copy and then sell many, many copies. • Freemium: Give away your the app for free and then create premium content which a user purchases within the app • Advertising/Sponsorship: Work with an ad network or a direct sponsor to monetize “eyeballs”. • E-commerce: For business with e-commerce, Mobile apps can generate a new revenue stream or supplement existing digital e- commerce programs. • The MEDL API: MEDL is currently in beta on a proprietary API that allows developers to earn money by installing a “digital vending machine in the lobby of their app.” What kinds of apps does MEDL build? We build everything from 3D games to hi-tech medical education tools. We work a variety for clients with different needs such as, mass brand engagement, retail driving couponing to very specific dynamic sales materials and high-security video sharing. We build big apps for multi-national corporations to quick turn around apps for budding start-ups. " What is MEDLʼs most popular app? MEDLʼs most popular app is Boxhead - The Zombie Wars - which boasts nearly a million users with tens of millions of unique sessions.Thursday, July 21, 2011
