    9. 9. Scenario: Corporate intranet site SharePoint: Designed to allows users to create a completely customized, highly functional intranet site, utilizing Windows Workflow functionality. Business Portal: Designed to be an ‘out of the box’ intranet portal, or slightly customized. Does have integration to certain modules in GP. Has minimal built in Workflow.
    10. 10. Scenario: Expenses Business Portal: No out of the box solution. Could integrate with third party ‘Concur’ Expense application. $5k to set up $8 per transaction SharePoint: Create a custom form and custom workflow . InterDyn has a GP integrated offering starting at $15k- one time cost
    11. 11. Scenario: HR Module Business Portal: Open enrollment, training, skills certifications, benefits W4 form SharePoint: No out of the box functionality -If your company has ADP as their payroll system, then this could be another option
    12. 12. Scenario: Requisition Management Business Portal: Yes, forms and workflow limited. Not to be customized. $1,800 40 per user SharePoint: Utilizing the workflow application (Windows Workflow) InfoPath form, InterDyn has a GP integrated offering starting at $15k. Other Options: An other option could be the 3 rd party product WorkPlace Requisition $80 per user – one time purchase.

    14. 14. <ul><li>Q- Can I search GP data in SharePoint without having Business Portal installed? </li></ul><ul><li>A – Yes, using the Database Business Catalog, which needs to be configured. If you already had Business Portal installed, this data business catalog could be used </li></ul><ul><li>Q- Does Business Portal use the Windows Workflow Foundation? </li></ul><ul><li>A- No, it uses its own </li></ul><ul><li>Q – Can I develop on the Business Portal platform? </li></ul><ul><li>A – Not really, not without hitting some design barriers. Recommended that you use the SharePoint platform. </li></ul>
    15. 15. <ul><li>They key question- What are you intending to do and share? </li></ul><ul><li>Microsoft Office SharePoint Server allows the flexibility to grow with your organization and maintain creative and technical control of your Intranet Application </li></ul><ul><li>Business Portal is a tool in the web solution, not the solution. Great for ‘out of the box’ usage and for users that ‘query’ occasional GP information. </li></ul><ul><li>Think of it as Business Portal is a good starting place, but if you really want freedom in your workflows and a true Enterprise Intranet Portal, then SharePoint is your tool of choice. </li></ul>
