Rusted
By Trisha Barry Copyright 2003
He was broken
down, a rusted 45
mph sign, stuck
in cracked clay. She
wound around,
vines holding him,
like some women
will - gently,
keeping him up
right - her morning glories
a touch of pink
to rust; a bit of beauty
shining pure
against the flash
of cars, heat and dust.
