THE METHODOLOGY: The African Methodology for creating the environment favourable to active thinking, dialogue, engagement,
learning, development and resolving conflicts.
BACKGROUND: The LEKGOTLA Way, our HERITAGE! We marked the COMETSA 20th Anniversary Celebrations in 2017 with the launch
of the monthly COMETSA PMS LEKGOTLA Networks. These take a form of presentations, dialogues, conversations, and questions and
answers format facilitated by COMETSA Methodologists, Experts, Associates and Partners.
RATIONALE: In this fast changing world, it is impossible to remain at the required level of knowledge, expertise, and information without
formal and informal continuous professional development. As a human capital, management and leadership development and consulting
company we saw a need develiop, coordinate and host such networks. Inititially these networks were hosted live in the Gauteng Province, South
Africa. We are now holding them virtually via Zoom. We are waiting anxiously to bring back face to face sessions, in combination with the
virtual sessions, and take them to the other provinces of South Africa in the form of tours, and to the rest of the African continent and the world.
FACILITATORS: We are, through this course, developing Facilitators, Champions, Consultants and Volunteers who would like to undergo our
monthly training and be qualified in the COMETSA PMS LEKGOTLA Facilitation Methodology. On completion the participants will be signed
off as being competent. If they take the membership of COMETSA Friends & Supporters Club NPO they will also be given the opportunity to
become the Business Associates of COMETSA GoC International (Pty) Ltd. That will give them the opportunity to work with COMETSA on
projects that require the LEKGOTLA Facilitation Methodology.
THE LEKGOTLA WAY METHODOLOGY! We are offering the opportunity for the participants to dialogue and converse with each other at
the mini-LEKGOTLAs over breakfast, lunch or dinner sessions, even virtually, depending on the format of the sessions (i.e. face to face or
virtual) in small groups. The facilitators introduce the topic, a few insights, and global trends. Each mini-LEKGOTLA appoints its Chairperson
who oversees the proceedings., the scribe who captures the deliberations, and the rapporteur who shortly reports back to the main-LEKGOTLA
(i.e. the plenary). The facilitators then open the floor for Q & A and general discussions. The African brainstorming concept is the LEKGOTLA
concept. The participants demonstrate the highest level of respect for fellow participants of the dialogue and conversation circle. The participant
who is on the floor is given full space to raise the issues and is fully listened to by the other participants of the LEKGOTLA. The participants are
free to agree to disagree. This is the best African negotiation and conflict resolution mechanism. At the end of the main-LEKGOTLA the
Chairperson of the main LEKGOTLA summarises the inputs and facilitates the process to arrive at the resolutions of the session. The main-

LEKGOTLA formulates what it views as the resolutions for the participants to consider for further discussions and practical implementation in
their own lives, organisations, communities, and enterprises.
KNOWLEDGE CREATION & SHARING – THE LEKGOTLA WAY! It is very difficult to create and develop knowledge as an isolated
individual. Every time one engages in a group dialogue or conversation new thoughts emerge. That is the power of collective thinking. We are
confident that our LEKGOTLA Networks are the common source of insights for opinion makers, and other practitioners in search for diverse
and fresh perspectives that will inform and transform our world. The world needs creative reporting and writing. Knowledge and information are
the food for the brain and the mind. We must make sure that quality information and knowledge is created. This knowledge must be shared
widely, and where possible freely. Knowledge is power and it must be shared. Sharing of any sort is Ubuntu principle in the African culture, and
knowledge sharing is a collective growth practice and individual responsibility. We should be better at this. That way we contribute to the world
knowledge base. We are the masters of the knowledge generated from our regions into the world. What happens when people from a particular
region of the world stop writing and sharing with the world? Such regions basically stop existing and accepts to be dictated to by the rest of the
world. Secondly, the world will fill up the gap with fake information because a vacuum does not exist in the information age in the world we live
in today. Someone will fill it up with made up news, information, and stories. Let us feed the world with the true stories of our region, in this
case the African continent. The world is hungry for the real news from Africa. There are many platforms on which to publish our thoughts,
views, and stories. The LEKGOTLA Methodology is instrumental in preparing us as authors and creators of content.
KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE – THE LEKGOTLA WAY! The continent of Africa has for a very long time been associated with negativity.
The emergence of internet and access to broadband is bringing countries in Africa much closer to each other and to the rest of the world. The
African intellectuals have not yet fully taken their rightful space in the global bodies of knowledge exchange because of the lack of or limited
connectivity. We see the opportunity to help the African intellectuals take their rightful place in the global knowledge space through technology
in this 4th Industrial Revolution era. The LEKGOTLA themes deliberated in the monthly PMS LEKGOTLA NETWORKS constitute a diverse
grouping of bodies of knowledge. These themes are repeated annually and aim to grow the membership of the various PMS LEKGOTLA
NETWORKS as learning and development platforms. The members of COMETSA Friends & Supporters Club NPO stay connected as such.
They grow their knowledge base through writing, debating issues, presenting papers at conferences, facilitating dialogues and conversations, and
are available to support each other in their professional work. This is a contribution to the intellectual enterprise development sector, made of
consultants, facilitators, mentors, coaches, authors, podcasters, bloggers, researchers, academics, trainers, teachers, motivational speakers, etc.

Professionals are constantly looking for the opportunities to reach out, interact, and network with each other. They need to be in the community
of fellow professionals and discuss issues of common and mutual interest. We want the participants of our PMS LEKGOTLA NETWORKS to
look forward to meeting each their peers in a trusted and friendly setting that is facilitated by well trained LEKGOTLA Facilitators. Hence this
course, COMETSA PMS LEKGOTLA Facilitation Development Programme. That is our value add to the growth of the professionals from
South Africa, African continent, and the world. Joint learning platforms are what we believe in and commit to provide to our regular participants
of our monthly PMS LEKGOTLA NETWORKS. Take part in the course and become one of our most sort after facilitators.

COURSE: The LEKGOTLA Facilitation, Learning & Development Methodology

  • 1. COMETSA PMS LEKGOTLA Facilitation, Learning & Development Programme Clients: Members, Non-Members, and the Public 3/27/2021 COMETSA GoC International (Pty) Ltd, and COMETSA Friends & Supporters Club NPO Chief Executive Officer: Sam Tsima
  • 2. COMETSA PMS LEKGOTLA Facilitation, Learning & Development Programme 2 COMETSA GOC INTERNATIONAL (PTY) LTD, Registration No. 2014/231808/07, COMETSA HOUSE, 13 SOMER STREET, KLOPPER PARK, ISANDO, GERMISTON, 1601, PO BOX 31429 BRAAMFONTEIN 2017, SOUTH AFRICA, TEL +27 11 974 9308 FAX +27 11 974 5612, EMAIL: callcentre@cometsa-goc.com WEB SITE: www.cometsa-goc.com THE METHODOLOGY: The African Methodology for creating the environment favourable to active thinking, dialogue, engagement, learning, development and resolving conflicts. BACKGROUND: The LEKGOTLA Way, our HERITAGE! We marked the COMETSA 20th Anniversary Celebrations in 2017 with the launch of the monthly COMETSA PMS LEKGOTLA Networks. These take a form of presentations, dialogues, conversations, and questions and answers format facilitated by COMETSA Methodologists, Experts, Associates and Partners. RATIONALE: In this fast changing world, it is impossible to remain at the required level of knowledge, expertise, and information without formal and informal continuous professional development. As a human capital, management and leadership development and consulting company we saw a need develiop, coordinate and host such networks. Inititially these networks were hosted live in the Gauteng Province, South Africa. We are now holding them virtually via Zoom. We are waiting anxiously to bring back face to face sessions, in combination with the virtual sessions, and take them to the other provinces of South Africa in the form of tours, and to the rest of the African continent and the world. FACILITATORS: We are, through this course, developing Facilitators, Champions, Consultants and Volunteers who would like to undergo our monthly training and be qualified in the COMETSA PMS LEKGOTLA Facilitation Methodology. On completion the participants will be signed off as being competent. If they take the membership of COMETSA Friends & Supporters Club NPO they will also be given the opportunity to become the Business Associates of COMETSA GoC International (Pty) Ltd. That will give them the opportunity to work with COMETSA on projects that require the LEKGOTLA Facilitation Methodology. THE LEKGOTLA WAY METHODOLOGY! We are offering the opportunity for the participants to dialogue and converse with each other at the mini-LEKGOTLAs over breakfast, lunch or dinner sessions, even virtually, depending on the format of the sessions (i.e. face to face or virtual) in small groups. The facilitators introduce the topic, a few insights, and global trends. Each mini-LEKGOTLA appoints its Chairperson who oversees the proceedings., the scribe who captures the deliberations, and the rapporteur who shortly reports back to the main-LEKGOTLA (i.e. the plenary). The facilitators then open the floor for Q & A and general discussions. The African brainstorming concept is the LEKGOTLA concept. The participants demonstrate the highest level of respect for fellow participants of the dialogue and conversation circle. The participant who is on the floor is given full space to raise the issues and is fully listened to by the other participants of the LEKGOTLA. The participants are free to agree to disagree. This is the best African negotiation and conflict resolution mechanism. At the end of the main-LEKGOTLA the Chairperson of the main LEKGOTLA summarises the inputs and facilitates the process to arrive at the resolutions of the session. The main-
  • 3. COMETSA PMS LEKGOTLA Facilitation, Learning & Development Programme 3 COMETSA GOC INTERNATIONAL (PTY) LTD, Registration No. 2014/231808/07, COMETSA HOUSE, 13 SOMER STREET, KLOPPER PARK, ISANDO, GERMISTON, 1601, PO BOX 31429 BRAAMFONTEIN 2017, SOUTH AFRICA, TEL +27 11 974 9308 FAX +27 11 974 5612, EMAIL: callcentre@cometsa-goc.com WEB SITE: www.cometsa-goc.com LEKGOTLA formulates what it views as the resolutions for the participants to consider for further discussions and practical implementation in their own lives, organisations, communities, and enterprises. KNOWLEDGE CREATION & SHARING – THE LEKGOTLA WAY! It is very difficult to create and develop knowledge as an isolated individual. Every time one engages in a group dialogue or conversation new thoughts emerge. That is the power of collective thinking. We are confident that our LEKGOTLA Networks are the common source of insights for opinion makers, and other practitioners in search for diverse and fresh perspectives that will inform and transform our world. The world needs creative reporting and writing. Knowledge and information are the food for the brain and the mind. We must make sure that quality information and knowledge is created. This knowledge must be shared widely, and where possible freely. Knowledge is power and it must be shared. Sharing of any sort is Ubuntu principle in the African culture, and knowledge sharing is a collective growth practice and individual responsibility. We should be better at this. That way we contribute to the world knowledge base. We are the masters of the knowledge generated from our regions into the world. What happens when people from a particular region of the world stop writing and sharing with the world? Such regions basically stop existing and accepts to be dictated to by the rest of the world. Secondly, the world will fill up the gap with fake information because a vacuum does not exist in the information age in the world we live in today. Someone will fill it up with made up news, information, and stories. Let us feed the world with the true stories of our region, in this case the African continent. The world is hungry for the real news from Africa. There are many platforms on which to publish our thoughts, views, and stories. The African intellectuals have not yet fully taken their rightful space in the global bodies of knowledge exchange because of the lack of or limited connectivity. We see the opportunity to help the African intellectuals take their rightful place in the global knowledge space through technology in this 4th Industrial Revolution era. The LEKGOTLA themes deliberated in the monthly PMS LEKGOTLA NETWORKS constitute a diverse grouping of bodies of knowledge. These themes are repeated annually and aim to grow the membership of the various PMS LEKGOTLA NETWORKS as learning and development platforms. The members of COMETSA Friends & Supporters Club NPO stay connected as such. They grow their knowledge base through writing, debating issues, presenting papers at conferences, facilitating dialogues and conversations, and are available to support each other in their professional work. This is a contribution to the intellectual enterprise development sector, made of consultants, facilitators, mentors, coaches, authors, podcasters, bloggers, researchers, academics, trainers, teachers, motivational speakers, etc.

They need to be in the community of fellow professionals and discuss issues of common and mutual interest. We want the participants of our PMS LEKGOTLA NETWORKS to look forward to meeting each their peers in a trusted and friendly setting that is facilitated by well trained LEKGOTLA Facilitators. Hence this course, COMETSA PMS LEKGOTLA Facilitation Development Programme. That is our value add to the growth of the professionals from South Africa, African continent, and the world.
