Essay About Technology
The technology industry is constantly expanding and growing every day. The world today essentially revolves around the use of technology and
most people use some form of it to help them get through every day. Each day more and more children are brought into this technology based world
and allowing the technology industry to grow. Day by day people become increasingly reliant on the use of smart devices, and other forms of
technology. This helps people wonder if its effects can be harmful to those operating these devices, whether it be children or adults. A big question
today is, "Is technology doing more harm than good?" Many parents are wondering if they should let their children participate in the usage of
technology every day. Many...show more content...
Morgan Hampton (2014) stated, "Without enough face–to–face communication, these nonverbal cues are unable to develop properly, skewing
children's relationships with others as they grow up in a technology–inclusive society"(para. 6). Children are communicating through smart devices
rather than face to face causing them to miss out on crucial social skills. If children are missing these skills at a young age, it may be difficult for
them to develop them as they grow up. Children continually neglecting these skills will have a tough time creating strong relationships with others. As
an adult, I have learned how important it is to form relationships with my family, people in the workplace, friends and staff on campus, etc. Having
these relationships has helped develop many skills that will be useful when I go for job interviews to help create a successful future for myself. Along
with missing these nonverbal cues, the use of technology "could interfere with the ability to develop empathy and problem–solving skills and elements
of social interaction that are typically learned during unstructured play and communication with peers"(Walters, 2015, para 10). If children do not
develop empathy and problem–solving skills they will struggle throughout life with school, socialization, relationships, etc. All of these things are
essential to create a healthy and happy life. Technology is causing children to miss out on many crucial skills

Technology is an integral part of our daily routines. A 16–year–old 11th grader in Denver says, "I am probably on my phone 10 hours a day". One can
further infer that technology has been incorporated into everything needed to survive. We use technology in business, education, medicine, and
research, so much that one could even go so far as to say that our society has become obsessed. Although technology provides us with crucial
information we now need to thrive in the world, it also has some controversial effects. In a recent argument, scientists (along with parents, students, and
teachers) are trying to determine whether an overreliance on technology could cause isolation, inhibit mental growth, and/or cause depression and
suicidal behavior among teens.
Scientists have been pondering the question for years and have resulted with differing views. While some scientists believe that "there isn't enough
evidence to condemn smartphones" and that there is "very little data to suggest mobile technologies are causing anxiety or social impairments", others
are quick to blame. Those who believe the latter state that internet and smartphones provide a sense of "inescapability" and that allowing a young
person to have constant access to these platforms is just like playing with fire. In a nationwide survey done between 2010 and 2016, the amount of
young adults who experienced at least one major depressive episode jumped by 60%. Along with depressive issues, technology and internet have also
been loosely linked to the inability to focus and show sympathy to others' emotions.
The researchers who believe that technology and internet are often misjudged suggest that mobile technologies can often help people, especially
marginalized groups, deal with judgement, bullying, and everyday stress. Candice Odgers, a professor of psychology and neuroscience at Duke
University, went so far as to say that jumping to conclusions and degrading smartphones could potentially lead researchers away from more notable
factors. Other scientists believe that, while internet may not be the direct cause of depression, it can inhibit one's social interaction on a day–to–day
basis. Brian Primack, director of the University of Pittsburgh's Center

Persuasive Essay On Technology And Technology
As we progress further into the future, technology seems to have more of a grasp on our society. Which can be seen as both beneficial or damaging.
We have come to a point in time were cars are starting to become autonomous from a push of a button, no longer requiring us to stay focused at the
wheel. Should we entrust our lives within a man–made artificial intelligent? The internet on the hand has a tremendously large impact on our society,
for better or for worse. Most citizens would consider the internet a good thing, not really considering the negative aspects that the bigger picture it
creates. A certain journalist from "The Atlantic" claims that the internet is shortening our attention spans and is slowly being used more as an
intellectual technology in the current day. Referring to his example the "clock", as he states, "In deciding when to eat, to work, to sleep, to rise, we
stopped listening to our senses, and started obeying the clock." ()Consider the same situation, but with the concept of the driverless car. How is that
going to affect our day to day lives, considering how the American society revolves around the automobile. Driving cars is a privilege, that younger
generations and future generations might take for granted. Numerals problems arise from the increasing amount of AI technology seen thought–out our
daily driving. We already have short attention spans due to the internet and television, do we really need these circumstances in our driving. For
instance, the depletion in vehicular control from the "driver", will most likely produce future generations lacking the acknowledge so calmly taught
today. The liability of the AI and its effect are still up for debate. However, taking the negative route, take note of the empathetic, and moral decisions
that a human can make, but can't program into a machine. Can the AI be intelligent enough to tell the differences between an inanimate object, and an
organism? Such technology would have to have the same, if not higher eye–brain coordination than a regular human. If an unavoidable automobile
collision were to occur for instance, it would have to make a moral decision on whether or not to protect the passages as well as

Persuasive Essay About Technology In School
Technology in School Technology is everywhere, it is involved in almost every part of our culture. It affects how we live, work, play, and most
importantly learn. With technology being such a fundamental part of our lives and growing each day, it only makes sense that schools incorporate
technology in the classrooms. Even though many people support the use of technology in schools, there are those that have concerns about the
effectiveness of technology and whether or not it undermines education to solely prepare students for the workforce. Despite the concerns, technology
is being integrated with classroom lessons daily, and proving how beneficial it is for student success.
I think that the use of technology in schools is one of the best decisions the school system could have made. Living in a time period of accelerating
change, I think that it is important to lean away from the more traditional educational tactics of teaching and learning that may have worked in the past.
And start to transition into the more modern–day style of teaching and learning, which involves technology. Students are always using technology.
Whether it is them on their laptops, tablets, or using their phones to surf the internet or an app, it is a vital part of their daily lives. I think that because
technology plays such a primary role in students' lives, the best way to connect with students in the classroom, is to incorporate technology into some
part of the lesson. I believe that

Persuasive Essay About Technology
Does the U.S. population believe that technology and devices are overused? Are we aware of the problems they are causing for not only our
safety and focus, but even possibly our morals? Most assume that they have their technology use "under control." Others know how serious their
addiction is. It is crucial for not only some of the population, but everyone, especially teenagers and adults, to realize the seriousness of this issue.
Once that is accomplished, we can utilize simple steps to get back to somewhat of the way life used to be lived, technology free. Yes, technology
is very important in society today, but we need to know the difference between using it for when it's needed, and when we're abusing it. This essay
scrutinizes the main conflicts that technology causes, the effects of overusing it, and various solutions that can keep people less distracted on their
devices, and more attentive to their 'real' lives. On the other hand, it will also look at some benefits of technology and ways it can make everyone
focus. According to the National Safety Council, in the United States, there are more than 3,000 car crashes each year from distracted driving. From
these 3,000 fatal accidents, more than half of the accidents were from cell phone use. These is only the accidents that account for fatal crashes, there
are more than 100 times that amount that result in injuries (National Safety Council, para. 1). Even those everyday accidents in which people do not
get hurt, it is still a major hassle dealing with the others involved in the accident as well as the insurance companies on top of all that. Although there
are driving while texting laws in many U.S. states, it is not stopping young drivers from constantly sending a quick Snapchat or text message. That is
exactly why there needs to be new methods to bring down texting while driving significantly. In a piece written by the National Safety Council, they
provide a promising solution. The National Safety Council shares information about new cell phone blocking apps to prevent cell phone related car
accidents. These apps are commonly used by the parents of teenage drivers and it allows them to turn their child's phone service off while driving. The
app does not

Technology And Technology Essay
'Necessity is the mother of invention.' Human beings have made do with their lot since time immemorial. Humanity has constantly tried to adapt to the
world that it finds itself in, to conquer the environment in order to live more comfortable lives. Quite unlike the rest of the life forms that are present
on earth, human beings have the distinction of having the capacity to create the most ingenuous ways of adapting and changing the environment to his
favor–technology. Technology can be summed up as the use of non–human organisms, mechanisms or machinery to complete tasks at the command of
the controlling individual.
Technology ultimately affects social relations (Ogburn, 1947). This essay will analyze the American society and discuss the impact of technology on
its outlook. The point is to find out those means through which the advances of technology has shaped this great society and shifted how the truths in
this society are perceived.
A Background of American Society Pre–industrialization
The industrial revolution and the agrarian revolution can be said to be single–handedly responsible for the technological advancement in the United
States. When the European settlers came to strip the Native Indians of their heritage, what we all know as our home was a wild land that was not
conquered by any man. Our settler ancestors themselves had a rudimentary knowledge of the operations of the universe. This was clearly seen in the
way that they interpreted Christianity, the bane of

Essay about Technology and Literacy
Technology and Literacy
According to Eric Havelock, "Greek literacy changed not only the means of communication, but also the shape of the Greek consciousness. The Greek
story is self–contained, yet the crisis in the communication which it describes as taking place in antiquity acquires a larger dimension when measured
against what appears to be a similar crisis in modernity" (17). In developing his conviction, Havelock focuses on the works of Homer and Hesiod:
As written, there is no previous recorded preparation for them. Virgil, Dante, Milton had their predecessors. [. . .] They have genius, but it is not
unaided, not unique, not isolated. But the Iliad and Odyssey [and] Hesiod's Theogony and Works and Days [. ....show more content...
He adds that the works provide a "window on a cultural process of transition, in which collision and contradiction are of the essence. The Muse of
orality, [. . .] learn[ed] to read and write–but at the same time she also continue[d] to sing" (22). And even after the process had been completed, "The
Muse never became the discarded mistress of Greece. She learned to write and read while still continuing to sing" (23). Havelock's theory offers
possible insight into the changes that are taking place today as modern technology makes its impact on literacy.
In "From Pencils to Pixels," Dennis Baron argues that "[. . .] writing is always first and foremost a technology, a way of engineering materials in
order to accomplish an end" (71). Baron's claim seems to support Havelock's theory in that Greek literacy came into being as a means of recording
Greece's orality, but by Plato's time writing had become a means of "formulat[ing] a new conceptual type of language" (Havelock 29). Can modern
advocates of communications technologies also assume then that writing is undergoing a similar change today? Baron goes on to say that "We often
lose sight of writing as technology, until [. . .] a new technology comes along and we are thrown into excitement and confusion as we try it on, try it
out, reject it, and then adapt it to our lives–and, of course, adapt our

Three Reasons Why Technology is Good
Have you wondered that technology is a big part of your life? Or maybe too much of your life? But the truth is technology helps us in many ways.
Smart phones can help you keep your calendar straight, some personal technology helps improve fitness and exercise, and otehr technology improves
life at home with advanced new washers and dryers, microwaves, and automatic coffee machines. In fact, three specific reasons that technology is
good is that it saves lives by improving medicine, keeps us connected to each other, and provides education and entertainment. One reason why
technology is good is that it has saved many lives. We have new machines to scan bodies and test blood and other fluids so that doctors can find

The internet provides access to an incredible amount of information about history, science, and people and cultures from around the world. So, TV
and video games provide considerable entertainment to all ages. Some people say that technology like video games might lead to a more violent
or obese population, but some games might lead to physical activities. The evidence on violence was mixed, but recent results say that it has no
effect or perhaps a negative effect on violence. The reason is that people may be getting their anger out by using the games, and perhaps most
important is that young males who might cause violence spend more time playing games and less time going out and starting trouble. In addition,
both the Wii and Xbox 360 have games that involve exercise. They should get children and adults moving! Some people also say that technology
that helps us be more connected also keeps us from being in the 'here and now', taking time to think more deeply, and having deeper conversations
with the people we are with. This can be a problem, but parents can limit the cell phone time of their children and adults can work to limit their time
on cell phones. Technology has already shown some downsides like texting family instead of spending time with them face to face but some of but
hopefully will change. In conclusion, technology is good because it improves medicine and saves lives ,and provides education and

What is Technology? Essay
What is technology? Technology is the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life,
society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science. Since the creation of modern
technology man has been entwined with it. On average a Smartphone user will check their phones 150 times a day, text 23 times, voice calls 22 times,
use their camera 8 times, check social media 9 times and news 6 times. And that is just how man interacts with their Smartphone. Neurologist fear that

Technology and Society
Historical evolution of technology and its impact on society
In society today, technology plays an important role in people's lives and in businesses and organizations around the world. "Most technologies
existing today were designed to expedite the way we manage, store, handle, analyze, and communicate information." It has evolved over many years
and the beginning of it can be traced back to the Industrial Revolution where machines began to replace the manual labor of skilled workers. Since then,
technology has brought about many changes that have affected businesses and people both in a positive and negative manner. However, getting
employees and managers to accept it hasn't always been an easy task....show more content...
"Clearly, nothing has changed communication in organizations more dramatically than advances in technology." Business and organizations now use
these technological advancements to their benefits and the impact it has made has been enormous. In today's world, it is not uncommon to have
meetings or teleconferences as they are called, where managers and their field employees can discuss planning and strategies from different parts of the
world. It is crucial for many organizations to have the information readily available to them so they can make the necessary adjustments or implement a
new process. This is extremely important when the change has occurred pertaining to the business. This shows why having good communication is
essential to running a successful organization.
Another important impact technology has had on society is the ease and handling of the way businesses and organizations store their data. Many
companies simply filed their data in a filing bin which took up considerable amounts of space and could be somewhat disorganized. The way most
businesses handle anything consisting of large amounts of data is by storing them electronically by computers rather than filing paperwork. Whether
it's in an airport, a grocery store, a car rental, or a bank, a large amount of data is

Look around. Everyone has their faces buried into their phones, laptops, iPads, etc. Many people would say that technology is taking over in our
everyday lives. I, however, beg to differ. Technology is one of the best things the human race could get their hands on. Yes it seems like everything is
in "the Cloud" or everyone is tweeting, reposting, Snapchatting, and liking everything. But how I see it is, a way for people to communicate and share
ideas they have with other like–minded people, accomplish papers and essays without having to go to a library because whatever device you use, has
a search engine that can search any question you have. As an aspiring computer programmer, technology will always play a role in my career because
someone is responsible for the software and programs that allow a computer to run, the world around us is always adapting, and without technology,
where would computer programmers be? If I received the Evolve IP Cloud Scholarship, then the scholarship would be able to open so many doors for
me because I would be able to afford continuing my education.
To begin with, as an aspiring computer programmer, technology will always play a role in my career because someone is responsible for the
software and programs that allow a computer to run.Computer programmers have to make the software and programs so the world can use it. It didn't
just appear there. Someone had to make the plan before it could be something great. Look at Snapchat. It didn't just start out as an amazing social
media application. No, a team of programmers came together and made the blueprints to what is now a great application for quickly sharing photos
with friends and family. It doesn't stop a just social media applications. There are educational websites and apps such as Edmodo, where students and
teachers can communicate with one another, find class assignments, and even turn them in electronically. Who do you think had to have done that?
Furthermore, as an aspiring computer programmer, technology will always play a role in my career because the world around us is adapting. We
didn't get stuck back when medicines, indoor plumbing, and cars did not exist. So why should we let technology become dated? Computer

Looking back 15 years ago to the electronic and digital technology we had then compared to what we have now is incredible to see first hand.
Society knew this new technology would come but never thought it would be here this immediate to where everyone and their grandmother's posse

are not fond of electronic or digital technology always tend to discourage it by saying that it causes "lack of social skills", it is a "constant distraction"
and sometimes that it has potential to become an "addiction". Personally, I believe it is a good thing that we have all this new digital/electronic

Also another illustration of how electronic technology has given the capable to better everyday life would be for the average user who drives a
vehicle, they are now in a position to use their smart phones to find the cheapest gas around them. This allows consumers to get the most out of the

can focus on what is necessary throughout the day without wasting time. For the most part this is just one example out of the millions of others.
Furthermore, electronic/digital technology has enabled us to expand our knowledge in the fields we stress most about. When I use my iPhone, most of
the time I am gaining wisdom. Either pertaining to school or my personal preference, either way I am learning. Having this type of technology has
authorized me to go further in–depth with subjects I find most interesting. I have always wanted to learn coding and learn Spanish but never was able
too the way I would like too. However with this technology I was about to begin gaining knowledge in both subjects with so many different outlets

Technology Trends Essay
INTRODUCTION It seems that every year people turn increasingly toward living their lives through technology. It has inundated society, families,
jobs, and lives. Three developing trends that in some ways overlap each other are specifically related to living in a technology world. These trends are
particularly important to the school librarian because many students are living their lives through the web. In order to reach those students, the
librarian must be knowledgeable about the trends and applications and be able to use and apply them in a library setting. By using them, the librarian
makes the library relevant to students, and brings the library to students where the students are.
The first trend is social communication...show more content...
TREND ONE – SOCIAL COMMUNICATION Social communication is found on the web through blogs, online journaling, emailing, instant
messaging, and micro–blogging. People use these applications to track their lives, inform others what they have been doing, make recommendations,
rant about an interest, and a variety of other reasons. There is some sort of social communication about virtually every topic under the sun. Blogs,
which is short for web–blogs, are essentially a place online where people go to write about their thoughts, ideas, feelings, etc. in their own voice in
order to share it with the masses ("Exploring web 2.0 and libraries," 2006). In a blog, someone can respond to the writer with a comment, and then the
blogger can post the comment for others to view, or they can delete it. In education or in a library, a blog could be used to share ideas about a topic,
recommend books, share thoughts on a book, share news about upcoming events, share information about a past event, etc. (Naslund & Guistini,
2008). Blogs are very applicable to the library setting. It is a place to have conversations about anything. It could become a sort of on–line book club.
The blog should invite participation. The more engaged students are, the more likely they are to care about the library ("Technology trends for a 2.0
world," 2007). Some of the more popular blog sites are blogger.com, edublogger.com, and blogsopt.com (Naslund & Guistini, 2008). Micro–blogging is

Technology; Helpful or Hurtful?
Everyday we hear about the astounding technological advances discovered year after year. Thirty years ago, who would have thought that we would
soon be able to communicate with a person half way around the world through a computer? The possibilities of technology are endless and beyond
belief, but are these possibilities always beneficial in society, or are they causing more harm then help? AuthorsPete Hamill, Grant Fjermedal and

If something as old and simple as the television may have had such an impact, just imagine what harm will come from recent and even future forms of
technology.
Roger Rosenblatt, author of "Who Killed Privacy," states, "This is the age where everything is known, everything told" (Rosenblatt 378). This
observation could not have been said any better. In our day and age everybody has to know everything about everyone. Privacy is no longer existent;
technology has taken all forms of it away from us. An Atlanta mail–order house offers a product called Listenaider, which amplifies nearby sounds and
is designed to look like a Walkman (Rosenblatt 379). Avid movie watchers are quite familiar with what a voice changer is. To disguise your voice
all you would need is one of these. Speak into a small device and you are instantly transformed into a man, woman or, as in the movies, a killer. For
those nosey people who have to know every conversation on every home phone, a scanner is now available. What happened to privacy?!? As
Rosenblatt states privacy was "killed" by the all too popular technology. How can any of this be beneficial to society? It is sad that a person can't have
a phone conversation without worrying that somebody is listening in. It is frightening about what is out there and what can be done. It gets more and
more complicated and sophisticated everyday. It is even more frightening about what the future holds.

The Internet and Technology
Technology today has made an impact in our everyday lives. Technology offers many advances in the world. One of the areas of impact is in the field
of education. An important technological advance has been movies and videos. Some would say these have become vital teaching tools. Technology as
a whole has made way for several new conventions, some good, and some bad. While there are several advantages to using technology to enhance
education, there are also several disadvantages. Technology as it is used today can improve the knowledge a student attains. However, the disadvantages

Many different students learn in many different ways. For example some are visual learners, others are oral learners and still, others are the kind of

students that are visual learners, rather than verbal learners. It helps students become individual learners, offering a plethora of websites for students to
look up and learn from on their own.
On the other hand, technology can be a detriment to students. First of all, teachers put too much emphasis on the appearance of assignments, such as
the pictures and the font type and the format, rather than paying attention to the actual quality of the assignment. Students spend more time on finding
pictures, typing up their work in special fonts, and focusing on the looks of their papers, rather than focusing on the important things, such as the thesis
statements, organization and details the paper contains. "Students spend too much time creating high–tech presentations that don't offer significant
improvements over traditional slide shows, oral presentations, index cards and all" (Bassett 75). This isn't teaching the student anything except that
looks are more important than content. Is that what we want to teach the next generation of students? "Teachers should not allow the glitter and power

Persuasive Essay On Technology And Technology
As time has progressed so have we and so has the technology that we create. We are at a point in time that everyone with the monetary means has the
answers to everything at the tips of the fingers. Yet this amazing breakthrough in science and technology is tainted by the fact that people don't know
how to control it. We have become completely addicted to our cellphones, absolutely engrossed and overtaken by the fact that we have all this access
that we can't separate ourselves from, not even enough to realize that we may be in too deep.
First, as teens we all wanted the newest things. The latest trends in fashion, the latest gadgets, and the latest cell phones. We begged our parents to get
us that new shiny iPhone when it came out or that new Samsung phone, we wanted whatever we thought was cooler and better, and what we thought
we could not survive without. And this is mostly because of what we can do on our phones. As Joelle Renstrom said in an interview with BU Today
students have a "Fear of missing out", students are afraid of missing text messages, not knowing their friend's latest post on Instagram, or not knowing
what happened last night on that Snapchat story. There is also the factor that students are anxious when they don't respond immediately as Renstrom
puts it "There's a term called techno–stress to describe the frenzy"; they get nervous and worried when they receive a message or an email and they
don't immediately respond. It is the fear of being penalized for not being attentive to your phone 24/7. On the other hand, it is the feeling of being
liked and well–known among your peers. When we post a picture or tweet something and someone likes it, retweets it, or responds in any way that
is positive it makes us feel good about ourselves therefore we look to post more and have a more active social media presence so that we can have
feeling repeatedly. It's like being an addict with and unlimited supply.
Secondly, studies have shown that excessive cellphone use can lead to serious psychological problems. In a recent study, it was discovered that in late
2012 more than 50% of the population owned a smartphone and around that same time the rate pf depression and suicide in teens began to increase.

what would people do without technology? Life would be a lot simpler, people would be doing more beneficial thing, such as helping other with
whatever help they may need, reading a newspaper, doing physical work around the house. Unfortunately more and more people are being
addictive to technology, spending hours and hours on the computer, for what purpose? There is no purpose, people are just addicted. However
modern technology can also be a good thing if used properly. In order to learn, kids at school require computers and Internet to study from it, write
research paper and to find out any information they'd like to know. It is also used all over the wold for military purposes. Modern technology is
responsible for keeping our world safe, and so far it is doing a very good job. Technology can also be used to communicate with people all around the
world, it

Technology: Past, Present, and Future
Remember the days of the Old West? The women walked around with their parasols or rode in a horse drawn carriage and the men rode fast and
furious on their horses. Everything you needed was right there in town: the saloon, the general store, and the barber. When one needed to get
somewhere, they would walk. If they needed to travel far, there were steam–powered locomotives. As towns and cities grew larger, it was not so
convenient to walk everywhere. There was a need for a machine that could get us around to where we had to go. Technology was becoming a bigger
part of the times and the machine we now know today as the automobile was invented.

Environmentalists would argue that cars "would eject large amounts of unpleasant gases into the air, such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and
sulfur dioxide" (Wilson 304). Energy experts would be afraid of using to much fuel. In short, there would be a strong resistance to the thought of an
automobile being built.
Wilson argues that without cars, we would have to live very close together in apartments and row houses so that we could walk to public
transportation depots. He also says that we would miss seeing the beaches and the countryside except for an occasional glimpse from a bus or
train window. We would have city upon city. Still, the car haters tell us that with the use of bikes and public transportation we will have less
pollution, noise and our energy is used more efficiently. Well what about the benefits? Wilson states "The automobile is more flexible, more
punctual, supplies greater comfort, provides for carrying more parcels, creates more privacy, enables one to select fellow passengers, and, for
distances over a mile or more, requires less travel time" (308). So to those that reject the notion of an automobile, Wilson says, "The car does exist,
and has powerfully affected the living, working, and social spaces of America" (304).
Technology has come a long way since the first automobile was built. We now have Small cars and mid size cars. There are Sport Utility Vehicles, or

Essay About Technology

  • 1. Essay About Technology The technology industry is constantly expanding and growing every day. The world today essentially revolves around the use of technology and most people use some form of it to help them get through every day. Each day more and more children are brought into this technology based world and allowing the technology industry to grow. Day by day people become increasingly reliant on the use of smart devices, and other forms of technology. This helps people wonder if its effects can be harmful to those operating these devices, whether it be children or adults. A big question today is, "Is technology doing more harm than good?" Many parents are wondering if they should let their children participate in the usage of technology every day. Many...show more content... Morgan Hampton (2014) stated, "Without enough face–to–face communication, these nonverbal cues are unable to develop properly, skewing children's relationships with others as they grow up in a technology–inclusive society"(para. 6). Children are communicating through smart devices rather than face to face causing them to miss out on crucial social skills. If children are missing these skills at a young age, it may be difficult for them to develop them as they grow up. Children continually neglecting these skills will have a tough time creating strong relationships with others. As an adult, I have learned how important it is to form relationships with my family, people in the workplace, friends and staff on campus, etc. Having these relationships has helped develop many skills that will be useful when I go for job interviews to help create a successful future for myself. Along with missing these nonverbal cues, the use of technology "could interfere with the ability to develop empathy and problem–solving skills and elements of social interaction that are typically learned during unstructured play and communication with peers"(Walters, 2015, para 10). If children do not develop empathy and problem–solving skills they will struggle throughout life with school, socialization, relationships, etc. All of these things are essential to create a healthy and happy life. • 2. Technology Persuasive Essay Technology is an integral part of our daily routines. A 16–year–old 11th grader in Denver says, "I am probably on my phone 10 hours a day". One can further infer that technology has been incorporated into everything needed to survive. We use technology in business, education, medicine, and research, so much that one could even go so far as to say that our society has become obsessed. Although technology provides us with crucial information we now need to thrive in the world, it also has some controversial effects. In a recent argument, scientists (along with parents, students, and teachers) are trying to determine whether an overreliance on technology could cause isolation, inhibit mental growth, and/or cause depression and suicidal behavior among teens. Scientists have been pondering the question for years and have resulted with differing views. While some scientists believe that "there isn't enough evidence to condemn smartphones" and that there is "very little data to suggest mobile technologies are causing anxiety or social impairments", others are quick to blame. Those who believe the latter state that internet and smartphones provide a sense of "inescapability" and that allowing a young person to have constant access to these platforms is just like playing with fire. In a nationwide survey done between 2010 and 2016, the amount of young adults who experienced at least one major depressive episode jumped by 60%. Along with depressive issues, technology and internet have also been loosely linked to the inability to focus and show sympathy to others' emotions. The researchers who believe that technology and internet are often misjudged suggest that mobile technologies can often help people, especially marginalized groups, deal with judgement, bullying, and everyday stress. Candice Odgers, a professor of psychology and neuroscience at Duke University, went so far as to say that jumping to conclusions and degrading smartphones could potentially lead researchers away from more notable factors. Other scientists believe that, while internet may not be the direct cause of depression, it can inhibit one's social interaction on a day–to–day basis. • 3. Persuasive Essay On Technology And Technology As we progress further into the future, technology seems to have more of a grasp on our society. Which can be seen as both beneficial or damaging. We have come to a point in time were cars are starting to become autonomous from a push of a button, no longer requiring us to stay focused at the wheel. Should we entrust our lives within a man–made artificial intelligent? The internet on the hand has a tremendously large impact on our society, for better or for worse. Most citizens would consider the internet a good thing, not really considering the negative aspects that the bigger picture it creates. A certain journalist from "The Atlantic" claims that the internet is shortening our attention spans and is slowly being used more as an intellectual technology in the current day. Referring to his example the "clock", as he states, "In deciding when to eat, to work, to sleep, to rise, we stopped listening to our senses, and started obeying the clock." ()Consider the same situation, but with the concept of the driverless car. How is that going to affect our day to day lives, considering how the American society revolves around the automobile. Driving cars is a privilege, that younger generations and future generations might take for granted. Numerals problems arise from the increasing amount of AI technology seen thought–out our daily driving. We already have short attention spans due to the internet and television, do we really need these circumstances in our driving. For instance, the depletion in vehicular control from the "driver", will most likely produce future generations lacking the acknowledge so calmly taught today. The liability of the AI and its effect are still up for debate. However, taking the negative route, take note of the empathetic, and moral decisions that a human can make, but can't program into a machine. Can the AI be intelligent enough to tell the differences between an inanimate object, and an organism? Such technology would have to have the same, if not higher eye–brain coordination than a regular human. If an unavoidable automobile collision were to occur for instance, it would have to make a moral decision on whether or not to protect the passages as well as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Essay About Technology In School Technology in School Technology is everywhere, it is involved in almost every part of our culture. It affects how we live, work, play, and most importantly learn. With technology being such a fundamental part of our lives and growing each day, it only makes sense that schools incorporate technology in the classrooms. Even though many people support the use of technology in schools, there are those that have concerns about the effectiveness of technology and whether or not it undermines education to solely prepare students for the workforce. Despite the concerns, technology is being integrated with classroom lessons daily, and proving how beneficial it is for student success. I think that the use of technology in schools is one of the best decisions the school system could have made. Living in a time period of accelerating change, I think that it is important to lean away from the more traditional educational tactics of teaching and learning that may have worked in the past. And start to transition into the more modern–day style of teaching and learning, which involves technology. Students are always using technology. Whether it is them on their laptops, tablets, or using their phones to surf the internet or an app, it is a vital part of their daily lives. I think that because technology plays such a primary role in students' lives, the best way to connect with students in the classroom, is to incorporate technology into some part of the lesson. I believe that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Persuasive Essay About Technology Does the U.S. population believe that technology and devices are overused? Are we aware of the problems they are causing for not only our safety and focus, but even possibly our morals? Most assume that they have their technology use "under control." Others know how serious their addiction is. It is crucial for not only some of the population, but everyone, especially teenagers and adults, to realize the seriousness of this issue. Once that is accomplished, we can utilize simple steps to get back to somewhat of the way life used to be lived, technology free. Yes, technology is very important in society today, but we need to know the difference between using it for when it's needed, and when we're abusing it. This essay scrutinizes the main conflicts that technology causes, the effects of overusing it, and various solutions that can keep people less distracted on their devices, and more attentive to their 'real' lives. On the other hand, it will also look at some benefits of technology and ways it can make everyone focus. According to the National Safety Council, in the United States, there are more than 3,000 car crashes each year from distracted driving. From these 3,000 fatal accidents, more than half of the accidents were from cell phone use. These is only the accidents that account for fatal crashes, there are more than 100 times that amount that result in injuries (National Safety Council, para. 1). Even those everyday accidents in which people do not get hurt, it is still a major hassle dealing with the others involved in the accident as well as the insurance companies on top of all that. Although there are driving while texting laws in many U.S. states, it is not stopping young drivers from constantly sending a quick Snapchat or text message. That is exactly why there needs to be new methods to bring down texting while driving significantly. In a piece written by the National Safety Council, they provide a promising solution. The National Safety Council shares information about new cell phone blocking apps to prevent cell phone related car accidents. These apps are commonly used by the parents of teenage drivers and it allows them to turn their child's phone service off while driving. The app does not Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 7. Technology And Technology Essay 'Necessity is the mother of invention.' Human beings have made do with their lot since time immemorial. Humanity has constantly tried to adapt to the world that it finds itself in, to conquer the environment in order to live more comfortable lives. Quite unlike the rest of the life forms that are present on earth, human beings have the distinction of having the capacity to create the most ingenuous ways of adapting and changing the environment to his favor–technology. Technology can be summed up as the use of non–human organisms, mechanisms or machinery to complete tasks at the command of the controlling individual. Technology ultimately affects social relations (Ogburn, 1947). This essay will analyze the American society and discuss the impact of technology on its outlook. The point is to find out those means through which the advances of technology has shaped this great society and shifted how the truths in this society are perceived. A Background of American Society Pre–industrialization The industrial revolution and the agrarian revolution can be said to be single–handedly responsible for the technological advancement in the United States. When the European settlers came to strip the Native Indians of their heritage, what we all know as our home was a wild land that was not conquered by any man. Our settler ancestors themselves had a rudimentary knowledge of the operations of the universe. This was clearly seen in the way that they interpreted Christianity, the bane of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay about Technology and Literacy Technology and Literacy According to Eric Havelock, "Greek literacy changed not only the means of communication, but also the shape of the Greek consciousness. The Greek story is self–contained, yet the crisis in the communication which it describes as taking place in antiquity acquires a larger dimension when measured against what appears to be a similar crisis in modernity" (17). In developing his conviction, Havelock focuses on the works of Homer and Hesiod: As written, there is no previous recorded preparation for them. Virgil, Dante, Milton had their predecessors. [. . .] They have genius, but it is not unaided, not unique, not isolated. But the Iliad and Odyssey [and] Hesiod's Theogony and Works and Days [. ....show more content... He adds that the works provide a "window on a cultural process of transition, in which collision and contradiction are of the essence. The Muse of orality, [. . .] learn[ed] to read and write–but at the same time she also continue[d] to sing" (22). And even after the process had been completed, "The Muse never became the discarded mistress of Greece. She learned to write and read while still continuing to sing" (23). Havelock's theory offers possible insight into the changes that are taking place today as modern technology makes its impact on literacy. In "From Pencils to Pixels," Dennis Baron argues that "[. . .] writing is always first and foremost a technology, a way of engineering materials in order to accomplish an end" (71). Baron's claim seems to support Havelock's theory in that Greek literacy came into being as a means of recording Greece's orality, but by Plato's time writing had become a means of "formulat[ing] a new conceptual type of language" (Havelock 29). Can modern advocates of communications technologies also assume then that writing is undergoing a similar change today? Baron goes on to say that "We often lose sight of writing as technology, until [. . .] a new technology comes along and we are thrown into excitement and confusion as we try it on, try it out, reject it, and then adapt it to our lives–and, of course, adapt our Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Three Reasons Why Technology is Good Have you wondered that technology is a big part of your life? Or maybe too much of your life? But the truth is technology helps us in many ways. Smart phones can help you keep your calendar straight, some personal technology helps improve fitness and exercise, and otehr technology improves life at home with advanced new washers and dryers, microwaves, and automatic coffee machines. In fact, three specific reasons that technology is good is that it saves lives by improving medicine, keeps us connected to each other, and provides education and entertainment. One reason why technology is good is that it has saved many lives. We have new machines to scan bodies and test blood and other fluids so that doctors can find diseases and...show more content... The internet provides access to an incredible amount of information about history, science, and people and cultures from around the world. So, TV and video games provide considerable entertainment to all ages. Some people say that technology like video games might lead to a more violent or obese population, but some games might lead to physical activities. The evidence on violence was mixed, but recent results say that it has no effect or perhaps a negative effect on violence. The reason is that people may be getting their anger out by using the games, and perhaps most important is that young males who might cause violence spend more time playing games and less time going out and starting trouble. In addition, both the Wii and Xbox 360 have games that involve exercise. They should get children and adults moving! Some people also say that technology that helps us be more connected also keeps us from being in the 'here and now', taking time to think more deeply, and having deeper conversations with the people we are with. This can be a problem, but parents can limit the cell phone time of their children and adults can work to limit their time on cell phones. Technology has already shown some downsides like texting family instead of spending time with them face to face but some of but hopefully will change. • 10. What is Technology? Essay What is technology? Technology is the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science. Since the creation of modern technology man has been entwined with it. On average a Smartphone user will check their phones 150 times a day, text 23 times, voice calls 22 times, use their camera 8 times, check social media 9 times and news 6 times. And that is just how man interacts with their Smartphone. • 11. Essay about Technology And Society Technology and Society Historical evolution of technology and its impact on society In society today, technology plays an important role in people's lives and in businesses and organizations around the world. "Most technologies existing today were designed to expedite the way we manage, store, handle, analyze, and communicate information." It has evolved over many years and the beginning of it can be traced back to the Industrial Revolution where machines began to replace the manual labor of skilled workers. Since then, technology has brought about many changes that have affected businesses and people both in a positive and negative manner. However, getting employees and managers to accept it hasn't always been an easy task....show more content... "Clearly, nothing has changed communication in organizations more dramatically than advances in technology." Business and organizations now use these technological advancements to their benefits and the impact it has made has been enormous. In today's world, it is not uncommon to have meetings or teleconferences as they are called, where managers and their field employees can discuss planning and strategies from different parts of the world. It is crucial for many organizations to have the information readily available to them so they can make the necessary adjustments or implement a new process. This is extremely important when the change has occurred pertaining to the business. This shows why having good communication is essential to running a successful organization. Another important impact technology has had on society is the ease and handling of the way businesses and organizations store their data. Many companies simply filed their data in a filing bin which took up considerable amounts of space and could be somewhat disorganized. The way most businesses handle anything consisting of large amounts of data is by storing them electronically by computers rather than filing paperwork. Whether it's in an airport, a grocery store, a car rental, or a bank, a large amount of data is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Persuasive Essay About Technology Look around. Everyone has their faces buried into their phones, laptops, iPads, etc. Many people would say that technology is taking over in our everyday lives. I, however, beg to differ. Technology is one of the best things the human race could get their hands on. Yes it seems like everything is in "the Cloud" or everyone is tweeting, reposting, Snapchatting, and liking everything. But how I see it is, a way for people to communicate and share ideas they have with other like–minded people, accomplish papers and essays without having to go to a library because whatever device you use, has a search engine that can search any question you have. As an aspiring computer programmer, technology will always play a role in my career because someone is responsible for the software and programs that allow a computer to run, the world around us is always adapting, and without technology, where would computer programmers be? If I received the Evolve IP Cloud Scholarship, then the scholarship would be able to open so many doors for me because I would be able to afford continuing my education. To begin with, as an aspiring computer programmer, technology will always play a role in my career because someone is responsible for the software and programs that allow a computer to run.Computer programmers have to make the software and programs so the world can use it. It didn't just appear there. Someone had to make the plan before it could be something great. Look at Snapchat. It didn't just start out as an amazing social media application. No, a team of programmers came together and made the blueprints to what is now a great application for quickly sharing photos with friends and family. It doesn't stop a just social media applications. There are educational websites and apps such as Edmodo, where students and teachers can communicate with one another, find class assignments, and even turn them in electronically. Who do you think had to have done that? Furthermore, as an aspiring computer programmer, technology will always play a role in my career because the world around us is adapting. We didn't get stuck back when medicines, indoor plumbing, and cars did not exist. So why should we let technology become dated? Computer Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Essay about Electronic and Digital Technology Looking back 15 years ago to the electronic and digital technology we had then compared to what we have now is incredible to see first hand. Society knew this new technology would come but never thought it would be here this immediate to where everyone and their grandmother's posse some form of it. It is deranged that a great deal of individuals hate this new age where technology is ubiquitous and taking over. Most of them that are not fond of electronic or digital technology always tend to discourage it by saying that it causes "lack of social skills", it is a "constant distraction" and sometimes that it has potential to become an "addiction". Personally, I believe it is a good thing that we have all this new digital/electronic technology...show more content... Also another illustration of how electronic technology has given the capable to better everyday life would be for the average user who drives a vehicle, they are now in a position to use their smart phones to find the cheapest gas around them. This allows consumers to get the most out of the hard earned money they spend throughout the day on gas. In short this electronic/digital technology grants us the opportunity to better our lives so we can focus on what is necessary throughout the day without wasting time. For the most part this is just one example out of the millions of others. Furthermore, electronic/digital technology has enabled us to expand our knowledge in the fields we stress most about. When I use my iPhone, most of the time I am gaining wisdom. Either pertaining to school or my personal preference, either way I am learning. Having this type of technology has authorized me to go further in–depth with subjects I find most interesting. I have always wanted to learn coding and learn Spanish but never was able too the way I would like too. However with this technology I was about to begin gaining knowledge in both subjects with so many different outlets offer to understand the information. The best part would be how in–depth the lessons go, allowing me and whoever use this electronic/digitally to learn Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Technology Trends Essay INTRODUCTION It seems that every year people turn increasingly toward living their lives through technology. It has inundated society, families, jobs, and lives. Three developing trends that in some ways overlap each other are specifically related to living in a technology world. These trends are particularly important to the school librarian because many students are living their lives through the web. In order to reach those students, the librarian must be knowledgeable about the trends and applications and be able to use and apply them in a library setting. By using them, the librarian makes the library relevant to students, and brings the library to students where the students are. The first trend is social communication...show more content... TREND ONE – SOCIAL COMMUNICATION Social communication is found on the web through blogs, online journaling, emailing, instant messaging, and micro–blogging. People use these applications to track their lives, inform others what they have been doing, make recommendations, rant about an interest, and a variety of other reasons. There is some sort of social communication about virtually every topic under the sun. Blogs, which is short for web–blogs, are essentially a place online where people go to write about their thoughts, ideas, feelings, etc. in their own voice in order to share it with the masses ("Exploring web 2.0 and libraries," 2006). In a blog, someone can respond to the writer with a comment, and then the blogger can post the comment for others to view, or they can delete it. In education or in a library, a blog could be used to share ideas about a topic, recommend books, share thoughts on a book, share news about upcoming events, share information about a past event, etc. (Naslund & Guistini, 2008). Blogs are very applicable to the library setting. It is a place to have conversations about anything. It could become a sort of on–line book club. The blog should invite participation. The more engaged students are, the more likely they are to care about the library ("Technology trends for a 2.0 world," 2007). Some of the more popular blog sites are blogger.com, edublogger.com, and blogsopt.com (Naslund & Guistini, 2008). Micro–blogging is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Essay about Technology Helpful or Hurtful Technology; Helpful or Hurtful? Everyday we hear about the astounding technological advances discovered year after year. Thirty years ago, who would have thought that we would soon be able to communicate with a person half way around the world through a computer? The possibilities of technology are endless and beyond belief, but are these possibilities always beneficial in society, or are they causing more harm then help? AuthorsPete Hamill, Grant Fjermedal and Roger Rosenblat take a look at certain forms of technology and the beneficial and detrimental aspects that have and will come from its advances. The family television is one of the oldest, most loved pastimes, and is thought to be one the greatest inventions. By the push of a...show more content... If something as old and simple as the television may have had such an impact, just imagine what harm will come from recent and even future forms of technology. Roger Rosenblatt, author of "Who Killed Privacy," states, "This is the age where everything is known, everything told" (Rosenblatt 378). This observation could not have been said any better. In our day and age everybody has to know everything about everyone. Privacy is no longer existent; technology has taken all forms of it away from us. An Atlanta mail–order house offers a product called Listenaider, which amplifies nearby sounds and is designed to look like a Walkman (Rosenblatt 379). Avid movie watchers are quite familiar with what a voice changer is. To disguise your voice all you would need is one of these. Speak into a small device and you are instantly transformed into a man, woman or, as in the movies, a killer. For those nosey people who have to know every conversation on every home phone, a scanner is now available. What happened to privacy?!? As Rosenblatt states privacy was "killed" by the all too popular technology. How can any of this be beneficial to society? It is sad that a person can't have a phone conversation without worrying that somebody is listening in. It is frightening about what is out there and what can be done. It gets more and more complicated and sophisticated everyday. It is even more frightening about what the future holds. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. The Internet and Technology Essay The Internet and Technology Technology today has made an impact in our everyday lives. Technology offers many advances in the world. One of the areas of impact is in the field of education. An important technological advance has been movies and videos. Some would say these have become vital teaching tools. Technology as a whole has made way for several new conventions, some good, and some bad. While there are several advantages to using technology to enhance education, there are also several disadvantages. Technology as it is used today can improve the knowledge a student attains. However, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. As Christians we need to be aware of the many things that technology has to offer us so that our...show more content... Many different students learn in many different ways. For example some are visual learners, others are oral learners and still, others are the kind of students who must take notes several times before they fully understand a concept. Technology gives students an interesting way to learn, it helps those students that are visual learners, rather than verbal learners. It helps students become individual learners, offering a plethora of websites for students to look up and learn from on their own. On the other hand, technology can be a detriment to students. First of all, teachers put too much emphasis on the appearance of assignments, such as the pictures and the font type and the format, rather than paying attention to the actual quality of the assignment. Students spend more time on finding pictures, typing up their work in special fonts, and focusing on the looks of their papers, rather than focusing on the important things, such as the thesis statements, organization and details the paper contains. "Students spend too much time creating high–tech presentations that don't offer significant improvements over traditional slide shows, oral presentations, index cards and all" (Bassett 75). This isn't teaching the student anything except that looks are more important than content. Is that what we want to teach the next generation of students? • 17. Persuasive Essay On Technology And Technology As time has progressed so have we and so has the technology that we create. We are at a point in time that everyone with the monetary means has the answers to everything at the tips of the fingers. Yet this amazing breakthrough in science and technology is tainted by the fact that people don't know how to control it. We have become completely addicted to our cellphones, absolutely engrossed and overtaken by the fact that we have all this access that we can't separate ourselves from, not even enough to realize that we may be in too deep. First, as teens we all wanted the newest things. The latest trends in fashion, the latest gadgets, and the latest cell phones. We begged our parents to get us that new shiny iPhone when it came out or that new Samsung phone, we wanted whatever we thought was cooler and better, and what we thought we could not survive without. And this is mostly because of what we can do on our phones. As Joelle Renstrom said in an interview with BU Today students have a "Fear of missing out", students are afraid of missing text messages, not knowing their friend's latest post on Instagram, or not knowing what happened last night on that Snapchat story. There is also the factor that students are anxious when they don't respond immediately as Renstrom puts it "There's a term called techno–stress to describe the frenzy"; they get nervous and worried when they receive a message or an email and they don't immediately respond. It is the fear of being penalized for not being attentive to your phone 24/7. On the other hand, it is the feeling of being liked and well–known among your peers. When we post a picture or tweet something and someone likes it, retweets it, or responds in any way that is positive it makes us feel good about ourselves therefore we look to post more and have a more active social media presence so that we can have feeling repeatedly. It's like being an addict with and unlimited supply. Secondly, studies have shown that excessive cellphone use can lead to serious psychological problems. In a recent study, it was discovered that in late 2012 more than 50% of the population owned a smartphone and around that same time the rate pf depression and suicide in teens began to increase. Technology has improved a lot over years, and it is a great thing these days, because it can be very helpful, especially for people with disabilities. However people are taking advantage of it. Every piece of technology that is being made requires little to no skill. All the machines are so easy to operate that anyone can do it, and that keeps us from being active, developing our brains, it is also very addicting. Checking your email every five minutes, chatting with your friends for hours even though you've seen them at school, waiting till that last minute to win an action. These things take away time from a persons life. It brings out a question, what would people do without technology? Life would be a lot simpler, people would be doing more beneficial thing, such as helping other with whatever help they may need, reading a newspaper, doing physical work around the house. Unfortunately more and more people are being addictive to technology, spending hours and hours on the computer, for what purpose? There is no purpose, people are just addicted. However modern technology can also be a good thing if used properly. In order to learn, kids at school require computers and Internet to study from it, write research paper and to find out any information they'd like to know. • 19. Technology: Past, Present, and Future Remember the days of the Old West? The women walked around with their parasols or rode in a horse drawn carriage and the men rode fast and furious on their horses. Everything you needed was right there in town: the saloon, the general store, and the barber. When one needed to get somewhere, they would walk. If they needed to travel far, there were steam–powered locomotives. As towns and cities grew larger, it was not so convenient to walk everywhere. There was a need for a machine that could get us around to where we had to go. Technology was becoming a bigger part of the times and the machine we now know today as the automobile was invented. Environmentalists would argue that cars "would eject large amounts of unpleasant gases into the air, such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and sulfur dioxide" (Wilson 304). Energy experts would be afraid of using to much fuel. In short, there would be a strong resistance to the thought of an automobile being built. Wilson argues that without cars, we would have to live very close together in apartments and row houses so that we could walk to public transportation depots. He also says that we would miss seeing the beaches and the countryside except for an occasional glimpse from a bus or train window. We would have city upon city. Still, the car haters tell us that with the use of bikes and public transportation we will have less pollution, noise and our energy is used more efficiently. Well what about the benefits? Wilson states "The automobile is more flexible, more punctual, supplies greater comfort, provides for carrying more parcels, creates more privacy, enables one to select fellow passengers, and, for distances over a mile or more, requires less travel time" (308). So to those that reject the notion of an automobile, Wilson says, "The car does exist, and has powerfully affected the living, working, and social spaces of America" (304). Technology has come a long way since the first automobile was built. We now have Small cars and mid size cars. There are Sport Utility Vehicles, or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
