  2. 2. E4It’s a British digital television channel which was launched on 18 January2001. The "E" stands for entertainment, and the channel’s target audienceis 15–35. The Channel U.S. channels such as Smallville, DesperateHousewives, How I Met Your Mother, 90210, One Tree Hill, UglyBetty, Scrubs, Revenge and more. Some of the British shows on E4 areMisfits, Shameless, Hollyoaks, and Made in Chelsea. Some U.S.programmes, such as Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty are screenedon E4 up to one week ahead of their Channel 4 broadcasts. Its mostsuccessful broadcast to date was on 11th October 2010, this was when anepisode of The Inbetweeners pulled in over 3.7 million viewers.
  3. 3. Reality- TV programmes with real people who are continuously filmed and designed to beentertaining other than being informative.For example The Only Way Is Essex, Made in Chelsea and etc… Reality TV Programmes are mainlywatched by teenagers and young adults.Different TV shows
  4. 4. Different TV showsDrama- TV programmes which tells a story, portray life or a characterslife. Usually includes conflicts and emotions through action and dialog.For example soaps like eastenders, coronation street and hollyoaks.Depending on the drama series will depend on the target audience, there is arange of drama TV programmes which teenagers-elderly watch.
  5. 5. Documentary- This is a TV programme which provides a factual record orreport. Some use pictures or interviews with people involved in real events toprovide factual record and report. The target audience is around 40+, even thoughsome people who are younger would most likely watch it majority of teenagers andadults wouldn’t find them appealing.For example 24 hours in A&E, The Secret Millionaire, 16 kids and counting and Jaws:The great white Myth.Different TV shows
  6. 6. Comedy- This can be comedians consisting jokes intending to make the audiencelaugh, they tend to be live shows. Not all comedy programmes are stand up comediansthere are a variety of comedy TV programmes which are on E4 for examplefriends, how I met your mother, the big bang theory and etc…There’s also animated comedy TV programmes on BBC3 for example Family guy andAmerican dad. The target audience for these TV programmes are teenagers andyoung adults.Different TV shows
