  24. 24. FOUR SCENARIOS4. TROUBLE FROM NATURE - BACKS AGAINST THE WALL23Others went out on the sea inships; they were merchants on themighty waters. 24 They saw theworks of the LORD, his wonderfuldeeds in the deep.
  25. 25. FOUR SCENARIOS25 For he spoke and stirred up atempest that lifted high the waves.26 They mounted up to the heavensand went down to the depths; intheir peril their courage meltedaway.
  26. 26. FOUR SCENARIOS27 They reeled and staggered likedrunken men; they were at theirwits end.
  27. 27. FOUR SCENARIOS28 Then they cried out to the LORDin their trouble, and he broughtthem out of their distress. 29 Hestilled the storm to a whisper; thewaves of the sea were hushed.
  28. 28. FOUR SCENARIOS30 They were glad when it grewcalm, and he guided them to theirdesired haven.
  29. 29. FOUR SCENARIOS31 Letthem give thanks to theLORD for his unfailing love andhis wonderful deeds for men.
  30. 30. GOD’S PROVIDENTIAL ANDREDEMPTIVE DEALING WITH PEOPLE33He turned rivers into a desert,flowing springs into thirsty ground,
  31. 31. 34and fruitful land into a salt waste,because of the wickedness of those wholived there.
  32. 32. 35 He turned the desert into pools ofwater and the parched ground intoflowing springs; 36 there he broughtthe hungry to live, and they founded acity where they could settle.
  33. 33. 41But he lifted the needy out of theiraffliction and increased their familieslike flocks. 42 The upright see andrejoice, but all the wicked shut theirmouths.
