6. • Integration is a key enabler to the digital
agenda
• The modern enterprise is disrupted and
innovated by new technologies in equal
measure
• The complexity of integration patterns has
increased
• Lets walkthrough how Enterprise Integration
has evolved with the connected enterprise
The Enterprise
Evolution
7. • Integration CoEs are formed to create and
manage the multitude of “interface”
requirements driven from ERP implementations
and projects.
• Standards and Integration patterns are defined
centrally.
• Middleware consolidation projects rationalise
(some) of the landscape and reduce TCO.
• Integration seen as a technical team.
• Some apps start to be hosted outside of the
enterprise.
On-Premise
Focus: “How do I exchange data and files internally and connect B2B”
8. • Cloud IT has changed the way applications are
selected, procured, hosted, integrated etc.
• A move to Cloud First has a huge impact on
Integration.
• Some cloud products have well defined Web
Services that allow many functions to be called
(initially SOAP based).
• Integration projects become more complex as
apps and functional skills are sitting outside of
the enterprise.
Cloud First
Focus: “How do I connect with these new SaaS apps that have been bought by
the business”
9. • The Anypoint platform enables hybrid
scenarios by ensuring Cloud and On-Premise
deployments can be managed seamlessly.
• Newer iPaaS functionalities complement the
existing On-Premise ESB tools and alleviate the
networking and security challenges with cloud
integration.
Cloud First
Focus: “How do I connect with these new SaaS apps that have been bought by
the business”
10. APIs
• At this stage the IT maturity is at the point, where
consuming SaaS is the norm and now the key to
success is how quickly you can share data.
• Integration becomes the key to business agility by
applying an API mindset across IT.
• APIs used effectively to unlock key data elements
required to support business initiatives.
• Agility and speed are the focus and central IT is
moving into federated models with DevOps teams
popping up.
Focus: “APIs are the key to enabling digital and platform strategies”

From quick poll so far today…
Strategy – Understanding Hybrid Integration Patterns
Technology – Even tie between wanting to know about IoT Scenarios and the age of challenge of moving files securely.
Continuous opportunity to influence topics…
This topic is about walking through the journey of Integration…
Lets start with the evolution of the enterprise…
NOTES
Move to cloud first would mean that business teams would procure cloud apps directly and in some cases without consideration of Integration
This led to a gap in how to consume cloud applications in a fast and secure way
Tactical approach was to extend On-Premise ESB systems to cloud patterns, leveraging HTTP, SOAP connectors etc.
Overall a connectivity and agility challenge, with point to point connections being created in the SaaS world
RR – We might need to a draw a new Picture?! Or reuse something we have.
