What is Summi Pontificatus?• An encyclical of Pope Pius XII published on Oct. 20, 1939.• It is also substituted “ on the unity of Human Society”.• a first major encyclical of Pius XII so was as setting “ a tone for papacy”.• It critiques errors like ideologies of racism and cultural superiority and the totalitarian state.
• Summi Pontificatus expolres the need for the Christian messages in a time of turmoil.• It also affirms the “supernatural brotherhood of people.
Unity of Human Sociality• Summi Pontificatus sees Christianity being the universalized and opposed to racial hostility and superiority.• It has also a divine law of solidarity and charity that answers that all men are truly brethren without excluding the rich variety of persons, cultures and societies.
Human Cultural Diversity• Summi Pontificatus teaches that superior and inferior cultures do not exist.
Solidarity and Charity• The principle of solidarity which can be articulated of friendship or social charity.
