Pre-injury StatusBefore his injury, this patient was a20-year-old and a second-year, full-timestudent at an architectural college.He lived with a couple of friends ina rented apartment, enjoyed a veryactive social life and had no steadyrelationship. He also loved playingcomputer games and could drive acar but did not own one.He had no pre-existing medicalconditions and ran every morning.
Present ConditionAfter his injury, this patient is attendingrevalidation therapy and is improving.He has not been able, however, toresume his academic studies andblames it on his head injury.He lives with his family close to therevalidation clinic. He has some socialinteractions but less than half as oftenas before.He walks but cannot run like before.He spends most of his time playingcomputer games.
Present ConditionThere are occasional disruptions dueto the injury, but he is able to do mostof the routine daily living activities.His family can leave him alone formore than eight hours and he is ableto get around using publictransportation. He can handle moneyand can independently go shopping.He is still troubled by a slight paralysisin the right hand which is assumed tobe related to the head injury.
