Able Planet manufactures innovative audio and communication devices for individuals with
All Levels of Hearing™. The company has won over thirty awards in the past five years,
including twenty-five International Consumer Electronics Show awards. Able Planet products
are in high demand, which drives Able Plant to develop a highly efficient distribution business
in the cloud using NetSuite, SPS Commerce, and OzLINK.
Able Planet serves a number of large retail customers including Costco, Brookstone, BJ’s
Wholesale, Office Max, and SamsClub.com. Additionally, Able Planet sells through their
own eCommerce site, resulting in a mix of fulfillment processes such as drop ship and direct
consumer orders, as well as shipments into the retailers’ warehouse requiring complicated
ASNs and UCC 128 labels. This resulted in the following issues:
• Ensuring the right processes were being followed in regards to packaging label
requirements, different customer ASN requirements, and accurate shipping information
was causing the warehouse to be less efficient and causing errors.
• The manual efforts in keying in shipment data into an EDI portal and duplicating back
into NetSuite was limiting their warehouse throughput and driving wasteful costs.
• The fragmented systems and processes resulted in poor visibility to customer compliance
and made it harder to reconcile questions in the front office.
Able Planet implemented OzLINK Shipping which captures ASN data and generates UCC 128
labels as part of the shipping process. OzLINK achieves this through real time integration with
NetSuite and SPS Commerce. This automation resulted in the following improvements:
• Simplification of the multi-step process required of manual fulfillment
• Elimination of a total of 4 hours of clerical tasks per day
• Creation of an end-to-end process with detailed visibility in NetSuite
